I had same issue, can be resolved by checking few things.

The error says contact card issuer however the issue is from apple side. I had this issue 4 years ago with one bank. Got same issue again with different card same bank. However I was able to add other bank cards in my iPhone without any issues.

Things to check:

1) Date and Time settings: Make sure Date and Time is set to 'Auto', If already on auto try to toggle it and restart phone.

=> If Date time is greyed out, Disable 'ScreenTime' and ScreenTime content and restrictions by going to 'Settings -> ScreenTime -> Content & Privacy Restrictions -> Toggle off'

=> Turn off Stolen device protection by going to 'Settings -> Face ID and Passcode -> Toggle of Stolen Device Protection'

=> Enable location for Time Zone 'Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location services -> System Services -> Setting Time Zone -> Toggle on

2) Try adding card in different way.

=> Try adding card from bank's app directly, if they have this feature

=> try adding card from by going to apple wallet and then add card -> scan card

=> try adding card from by going to apple wallet and then add card -> Manually enter card details

note: In my case bank said the name should match exactly as appear on the card, however I was able to add it by entering just short name.

3) Most important step that resolved my issue.

=> Check your device name: Go to 'Settings -> General -> About -> Name'. Make sure there is no special characters in device name. For example change name from 'John's  iPhone' to 'iPhone'.

Note: for some reason adding card won't work if you have special characters in device name. This should be reason why it works in you Mac/watch for example and won't work in iPhone.

Also not all the banks are same, I was able to add one of the banks card without any issues even with special characters in my device name. However I wasn't able to add another banks card. I would take it positively as more complexity add more security lol.

I had this issue 4 years ago and happened again today, I didn't remember solution nor i was able to find on internet. I'm adding it here so it might help others and me in future lol.

For now what I know is Bank doesn’t have a department who specially handle Apple Pay and I don’t know. Is it just in my country? Which is Malaysia here but apple keep requesting me to call the PNO PAYMENT NETWORK OPERATOR AND THEY DON’T HAVE THE NUMBER EVEN SO I HAVE TO SEARCH ONE BY ONE OF COURSE I CALLED THE BANK THE BANK DOESN’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS DEPARTMENT. I CALLED TO MASTERCARD. AND Walah they hand me back to my bank. So for people who are trying to call Visa or master. Don’t think about it. And I see some people say Apple Pay is working. Nope it’s not For everyone yet at least not for me yet my bank support Apple wallet this is not the first time I use Apple wallet I try all the troubleshooting from Apple and Bank try all the troubleshooting at their end also for people to take note regarding the token I believe if you receive the message saying card not added please contact card issue certain times it’s because of the token because last year my first Bank Card I have added to too many phones and I need to go to the bank to reset the token but this card which I’m referring to to this year have already reset the token for tons of time from the bank and I confirm it’s not the token

I’m having the same issue as everyone else with not being able to add my card to my apple wallet . I believe the issue is with Apple and this is why; I was successfully able to add the same cards to my friend’s Apple wallet with no problem.

I reached out to my card issuer (chase) and they too were unsuccessful with adding the card to my Apple wallet. I was told by the card issuer they received a message stating my Apple account has a FRAUD alert on it which is preventing them from adding my card to the wallet on there end.

I reached back out to Apple support and was told I don’t have any alerts on my Apple account. And the message the card issuer provided was untrue.

Can someone tell me if a Fraud alert on an Apple account is really a thing and how do I get this resolved?

Hello, has anyone found a working solution for this. Adding the cards works on my old iPhone SE but not on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I tried updating to latest iOS, network resetting, adding the card from settings, and contacting my card issuer, but they don't know what to do and no other fixes work.

I also used to be able to add the card on my iPhone 11 Pro Max until it randomly stopped working.

Any fix?
