Hi,

Would it be correct to assume that you are using the (07.05.23) [Mac] UFRII LT Printer Driver Ver.1.5.11 (macOS 10.12.6 - macOS 13.4.1)?

Any change if you reset the printing system and re-add the printer?

Thank you for the information.

Strange. One should perhaps not rule out some kind of printer driver incompatibility, but you may want to carry out a few tests to begin with.

Did you reset the printing system as described in the above article?

I assume that the printer is wirelessly connected to a Wi-Fi router (infrastructure mode). Any change if you wire the printer by Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports of the Wi-Fi router instead?

You could also carry out a test with the printer directly connected to the Mac by USB.

Well, well, well...

I have another Mac running Monterey 12.6.8. I connected the printer via USB and downloaded the same driver as I had been using on the laptop. The printer works!

Is it the Mac OS Ventura? I could check that by upgrading the OS on this desktop from 12 to 13. I need to have printer access so I'm loath to potentially 'break' what's working now.

One thing I did different on the desktop was to skip the software download from the DVD that came with the printer. I just got the driver & hardwired the printer.

I'll go back to the laptop and run thru everything once again.

Thanks for the suggestion about trying another computer.

Thanks for your reply. I am  using the (07.05.23) [Mac] UFRII LT Printer Driver Ver.1.5.11 (macOS 10.12.6 - macOS 13.4.1).  I’ve removed the printer & then chose it again & then selected the Canon LBP6230/6240 driver from the list of drivers I have loaded. I receive the same error message: ‘filter’ failed.

I have no idea what to try next or where to seek help. I rarely run into technical issues that I can’t resolve.

Jan,

1) I followed the instructions to reset the printing system -- still couldn't print

2) I rebooted into Safe Mode then rebooted again normally -- couldn't print

3) Printer connected directly to laptop (pop-up asked if I wanted to connect to LBP6230) -- couldn't print

Very frustrating. I know the printer itself works because during the initial setup & setup confirmation, it printed a page detailing product info, wireless LAN connection & settings, ethernet driver settings, TCP/IP settings.

I appreciate your help.

Good to hear that printing is OK, at least from one computer.

As I see it, setup programs (and drivers) on discs supplied with a printer should be avoided, if possible. Generally speaking, it is often better to carry out a manual setup with drivers (if at all needed) downloaded from the printer manufacturer or Apple. For a wireless connection, one could use WPS and/or a plain network configuration via a printer's control panel or an embedded web server (Remote UI, etc).
