iPhone 13 Pro Max White Screen

We bought iphone 13 pro max on last year june. Today i.e. aug 13 we faced a major issue. The screen completely went white . We took the phone to the service center. They confirmed its display issue. We followed the threads in iphone 13 and found its very common and happening for a lot of people post upgrade. The customer care here asked for around 35k. The issue is bot caused by any hardware or software damage. None of these was damager by user i.e. us. Then why we have to pay such a lum sum amount for it. Need assistance on this. As a lot if important data is stored in that phone.

Dear members,

Apple should stop producing this kind of faulty units. I lost the trust in them and their customer support and resolution of the issue is horrible. We should file a consumer case against the White Screen issue on iPhone 13 Max Pro. They have to run a program to recall the phones immediately.

Hi,

Like you say, it's a widely known issue among users dealing with the problem. In another thread the user Arzozeus suggests a process to try getting the repair cost waived: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254455239?answerId=259380747022#259380747022

A different user explained how they got the cost waived: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254455239?answerId=259197503022#259197503022.

Good luck!

I am facing the same issue now. I contacted with apple support in China and waited for several days, finally they replied that it is out of warranty and I need to pay for it. After searching in China forum, it has many same cases of 13pro and 13pro max series. It is really disappointed of apple service, they make customers pay for their quality issues.

I believe we buy iPhones because of their excellent quality! Last year, I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the warranty expired. I found many screen issues discussed in forums in Taiwan. However, Apple lacks sincerity in resolving these issues and instead demands users to spend a lot of money to replace the screen. I was afraid of encountering the same issue, so I sold it quickly.

From this incident, I feel that Apple does not prioritize quality and after-sales service!

Even I also faced same issue for my iphone 13 pro max in Singapore. Went to couple of apple stores(orchard and Jwel changi) for this white screen issue. No proper response from them. Bought it for huge amount but just used for 1 year 3 months only.. They said in order to repair I have to take out the rusted screw. It is designed by apple but they dont want to take out screw which is ridiculous. It is my worst experience with apple support so far. No company in the world will do like this. As it is common bug after OS upgrade and it has to be fixed by Apple instead they are simply telling many stories which never happened anywhere in the world with other mobile companies. I can see such worst company is Apple.

Updating iOS on your iPhone should typically not alter the fundamental functionality of the device. In general, iOS updates are designed to enhance the user experience, improve security, and fix bugs, rather than introducing major disruptions to core features. The reported issue of the screen flickering and displaying a white screen after an update is likely caused by factors that are not explicitly mentioned in your post.

iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

If the issues you mentioned are indeed caused by iOS, it's likely that numerous users who have upgraded to iOS 16.6 are experiencing similar problems. However, in order for the community on this forum to provide helpful responses, it would be beneficial for you to specify the nature of the issue you are encountering. Without this information, it may be difficult for others to address your concern effectively.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

Hey Sujith , I have initially approached two authorized service center's in Bangalore ( HSR layout ) and they didn't even took my phone and checked with service team , just by looking at my white screen they said the screen has to be replaced and it would cost around 38k INR and if your looking for a paid service proceed here else check with apple support care, then i approached the service center in Coimbatore where they kept my phone in observation for around 2 hrs and got an exceptional approval from Apple that it is a manufacturing defect ( my phone was in perfect condition No drops and scratches) and they sent back to Apple and got it replaced. The service team or engineers helped to identify it as a manufacturing defect. Please check with authorized service center and ask them to analyze the issue in your iphone 13 pro max and if there are no damages from your side , they may help you to replace the screen free of cost just in my case.

My first iPhone 13 pro max's screen turned white right after a year I've got it so the warranty expired and Apple Repair Center was asking me to pay for the LCD replacement for 25k. Scammers! I've replaced it with a new one, In less than 6 months, the screen turned white again after the update. It's pretty consistent with the white screen issue. Ya, def switching to Samsung.

Same thing happenned to me. I have an 1phone 13 pro max 1 year and 5 months old. On 12th Nov 2023 i updated the IOS version to 17.0 and as soon as i did it, i got the white screen of death . Took it to service center and they told me that the screen needs to be replaced. The cost for the same was told as 32 K . Its in brand new condition and clearly a manufacturing and /or software issue which triggered it . I faced no issue prior to that.

If apple wants to maintain its brand image, these screens should be replaced free of cost else people will stop buying apple products

Folks, I got similar issue. The process is you call online service And mention regarding your issue. I have insisted them that this is caused after software update and you can see many community users are facing same issue.

If they can assure you that it is from the software issue, then screen will be replaced only if the device is found to be non-damage state and screen damage is caused by software.

Then you need to go to Aptronix and submit your iPhone and asked them to send the reports to your online ticket. If the report comes to be positive with no physical damage or water damage from your side and you have already negotiated with the online service partner. Then they will give you a free replacement or charger minimal fee for the store service.

But if found out that your phone is water or physical damage, then even though the damage may caused by a software, you will not get free replacement.

ps: The opinions here on my own and Personal. Same case may or may not have occurred with you. I’m just sharing my experience for the community. I’m not representing any company. All the best and don’t worry.

We had the same issue with white screen of death my 13 pro max is only 19 months old no scratches, no dents, no crack and history of misused. I do have other Iphone models like 7 Plus and still working fine except for the battery knowing the wear and tear. I have faith in apple expensive but quality is great and reliable. But so disappointed when this happened then I tried to open a case and escalate it but they refused to replace it for free.

I am thankful to the iVenus service center in Andheri. They thoroughly examined my device and determined that there was no liquid damage or other issues caused by my activities. They escalated my problem to Apple, and I had my phone repaired with a new display at no cost, even though the warranty had expired.

I would like to mention Ms. DHANASHRI WAGHE, the executive who attended to my issue at the service center. According to the service order, it was stated that it might take 10 working days to complete the repair. However, she supported me, promptly escalated the issue, and within 2 days, my device was repaired. Many thanks to iVenus - Apple Authorized Service Provider - Andheri East, Mumbai, and Ms. DHANASHRI WAGHE for the commitment shown.
