I've tried troubleshooting my airpods like forgetting the device off my phone and reconnecting, cleaning them, and switching the microphone from left to right to automatic but nothing has helped. I've tested the microphone through voice memos and the sound is either muffled, just background noise or nothing at all, and anyone I'm on a call with cannot hear me.
Hi I have 3rd gen Apple air pods . When I make phone calls and I have my air pods in no one can hear me talking through the air pods; but I can hear them. Has anyone had this happen to them and what can I do ?!
Both ears for My AirPods Pro (2nd gen) microphone has suddenly stopped functioning. Possible an issue with the firmware update?

I had the same problem go to your AirPod settings and make sure the left and right are set to siri
That was temporary. Update. Turning off automatic ear detection seems to have worked. Tested last 4-5 days and they’ve worked.

Is there any way to not allow the firmware to update on a new pair?
Nope. It just updates them and no way to roll the firmware back to previous versions either. Apple is in the drivers seat and apparently driving while intoxicated.
I turned off conversation awareness and that also seemed to work
