iPhone mini overheating problem

I am using 12 mini, having the same issue of over heating, Its getting overheat within 2 or 3 minutes like ****, can't touch the phone. when i disconect the data connection, its gets cool. done factory reset, erased data, but no changed in overheating problem. Can apple help?

i too face the same issue my iphone 12 mini is getting heated for no reason i don't no y even if surf flipkart or if i watch youtube for more than 15 mins my phone gets heated up can u please give me some suggestion on this issue

My 12 mini has had this issue since I got it. What the heck, apple? I feel like they should replace them!

When I had a somwhat similar issue this is What I did...

1. Took a backup on iCloud (Which I do regularly)
2. Logged out of the Apple ID
3. Erase --> Erase iPhone - Apple Support (IN)
   1. Keep eSIM Data was the option I chose (See the pic)
   2. .
4. Set up my iPhone and restored it from iCloud Backup
5. 

I continued to have the same issue with the heating.

I repeated the above steps but this time I did not restore from the iCloud Backup. I set it up as a new iPhone.

Waited for 3 days. There is no heating issue, now.

Conclusion.:

• There is no hardware issue!
• This is not an iOS 16.0.3 issue
• Some Apps or iPhone storage and some settings may be heating up the device.

Action Plan:

• I will now slowly get my all data back one by one.
• Using the elimination process I will try to find out which app or settings were causing this...

Now the heating issue isn't there anymore. I am adding apps one by one and keeping tab on the heating issue.

My experience says this is purely caused by some third-party app that you may have installed.

I am having similar issues. My iphone 12 mini's screen randomly turns partly black with some red coloring. I also have issues with it getting too hot. Every time I charge it in my car, when I connect to CarPlay, I eventually receive a message saying that charging is on hold because it is too hot. I tested this with other iphones (not iphone 12 minis) and that never happens. And that happens when I use the cable to connect, if I use the wireless charging system my car has then forget about it. It gets so hot it becomes unusable. I tried it both with and without my case to see if that could've been affecting it and I would get the same result. Yet everyone else I tested it with that have non-iphone 12 mini iphones had no issues at all.

I’m having the same issue, seems to be mostly when on Bluetooth or struggling to find an internet connection but also when charging even if it’s USB

Cellular Data is causing heating with me as well. Not wifi.

I searched because my iPhone 12 mini has been over heating like mad for the past while, when I first got the phone they had to warranty replace the battery (bought direct from Apple and I wish they would have just gave me a new phone) - they also had to replace the camera.

ANYWAY, it was so hot it hurt my finger tips just now so I flipped to “low battery mode” and INSTANTLY it cooled down. It’s not hot at all now, it’s the battery over working. Try to keep on low battery mode as much as possible to keep battery longevity.

Why does my 12mini gets extremely hot all the time?

I turn it off periodically, I cleanup and delete unused Apps, what else can I do to prevent from more damaging heat?

recently I have to use Bluetooth for communication with the Tesla battery for solar panels.

Exactly. I don’t even use it anymore. I had to pick up an old iPhone and use instead. Very disappointing.

I am having saje problem with my iPhone 12 mini with iOS 17

its not about third party app, during phone update its gets overheat too. if its connects to 5g and its on idle mode, even then its gets overheat within 2 to 3 minutes like untouchable. I think its hardware issue like radio, proccessor or battery. when its disconected from data connection, its gets cool.

The same happened to me. Seems to be linked to 5G. Access 4G and it immediately cools down.
