After WatchOS 10 update I cannot swipe between watch faces

Not sure if this is just me or did Apple just remove the ability to swipe between watch faces? After updating, the only way to get to the neighboring watch face is to long-press to (brings up the edit button) and then I can move to a neighboring watch face. If that's intentional, that sucks. I use four neighboring faces for different purposes and am swiping between them constantly. This will make using the watch very laborious for me.

If it is not an intentional removal of a critical feature, and it's just me. What do I do to restore that most basic of functions? The watch is a Series 5 white ceramic.

Thanks.

WatchOS 10.2 is out and the swipe to change the watch face is now an option to toggle on and off.

Go to Settings>Clock.

Yeah, I'm happy to have the swiping back, but I don't appreciate the delay before I can see the correct time and data on the screen.
I get that it might make sense to have to load data that isn't currently loaded, but most of it should be instant. And if you switch back and forth between faces, everything should already be current.

So many of the tools are cumbersome to use. I wonder who designed this new version… I keep threatening to leave Apple products all together, but don’t because interfacing is easier… was easier than other devices. We’re brainwashed. I think it’s time to look at the Pixal or Samsung, ugh.

You could tell Apple your suggestions for making the tools less cumbersome here

It's yet another kluge that comes with watch iOS 10. An hour or so spent wading through directions for adding glorious new watch faces brought me to these instructions (from a community member, not Apple!):

  1. press on the watch face until the screen changes to a small version of the current face. Ignore all the nonsense, just swipe as you used to to get to the face (and 'complication') you needed to change to. Do this each time you need to switch faces.

The clutter on the after long press screen consists of things much better done from the Watch app on the phone. Who needs it.
