iOS 17 wallpapers blurry at top

It's stupid i know. They should fire this Product Manager, but this works:

1) Duplicate the picture (select 3 dots in upper right of picture, select Duplicate)

2) Edit the pic

3) Select Crop

4) Select the icon in the upper right, looks like rectangles within rectangles

5) Select WALLPAPER in the lower right

6) Adjust to your liking

7) click Done

Do your typical Use as Wallpaper

I've posted this before, but since people often don't read much in a thread they posted too, it bears posting again.

You can save a photo as wallpaper, which stops the blur by doing the following:

Open the photo you want to use.

Tap Edit

Tap Crop

Tap the box at the top with boxes in the box

Now choose Wallpaper and then done

You can choose this saved wallpaper and it won't blur. Don't try to resize it after choosing it as wallpaper.

Sorry if this is a duplicate solution. But I found that if I remove the “Focus” feature (e.g. Sleep, Personal, etc), it will instantly restore the normal wallpaper appearance. Voila! No need to duplicate the pic, etc.

The only way I was able to “fix” it was if you click on the photo, hit edit as if you were going to edit your photo & zoom out from there (the background will be black) and I screenshot my photo with the edit options but I then crop it out on my screenshot. So then after that, I use the screenshot copy for my wallpaper . It will have the black top & bottom but it’s better than blurry. Hope it helps.

The only “fix” or loophole I’ve been able to find is going into my camera roll, clicking on the image I want as a wallpaper, zooming the image to fill the screen however I like and screenshotting it. Then using that screenshot as the wallpaper; toodles to the blur.

This video provides the solution: https://youtu.be/3vzIRXe55V8?si=R9GKP9hOspeIY2dt. The wallpaper only blurs if you try to crop it. So first you need to crop the photo to the aspect ration you want before opening up the photo in wallpaper settings.

There is a fix that’s not too bad. You don’t need to duplicate the image to do this. When you select a photo to put as wallpaper in the wallpaper settings, just enlarge it a little until the top blurring goes away.

It’s not a perfect solution because you must expand the image and therefore you lose the some of the edges of your images.

So I think I’ve found the solution. When you zoom out to make the image fit, it automatically adds the blur, but if you use two fingers to kind of drag it up or down, it removes the blur. Worked for me. Using an iPhone 15 Pro

Yes! That worked for me. I went to Settings > Focus > Focus Status, then turned off Share Focus Status. Then I went to my wallpaper, chose a different, arbitrary photo, then chose my desired photo again. This time it fits the screen perfectly and is not blurred at the top. Awesome, thank you Yeheey1.

This was frustrating me too. My wife came up with a good solution. If you open the picture you want in photos on your phone and zoom in however you want it, then take a screen shot, that screen shot will then be the correct aspect ratio and will work as your wallpaper without blurring at the top.

i personally used instagram because it’s really easy to set a background color, then drop in an image, and save it from there. however, procreate, sketchbook, or really any drawing app would work. just put a background color on any of these apps, then insert your image, and make it small enough that a thick border of color is seen around the image, then save it and put it in your wallpaper! you might have to adjust the size of the border depending on what image you’re using, but it works rlly well! i hope this helped :)

I use a trick to this blur, just open any photo editor , put ur desired lockscreen in any background color ( make the lockscreen smaller and in the bottom) save it and put the whole picture as ur lockscreen. There, u can zoom the picture to make it only fit ur lockscreen picture

Easy fix. I’m on iOS 17 too. Had the same issue. Just have to open the image in photos. Edit, crop, crop it until it fits perfectly in the screen. (No blank space) save. Then set as your wallpaper and it won’t get blurred at the top

I just downloaded ios17 today and had the same issue. I’m not sure if this will fix the problem, but I went to photos and edited the one I wanted to use. I cropped it as wallpaper. It now fills the screen and I don’t notice any blur.

you could digitally add black around it so u can zoom out as the picture would result bigger, as a solution for the moment
