Notifications not working after iOS 17 Update

A lot of people do not like that option. Before you didn’t have to select any of those three and you would still get a notification sound. It seems they Apple is making mandatory to select one of those three options. What person wants to see who just texts you? I know I don’t. They need to fix this.

Hi, I'm also having problems with my notification sounds ever since I updated to 17.0.2. Are you saying that if I purchase an "Alert Tone" from Apple that I will be able to assign it to the app that I am no longer getting sounds from?

The specific app that I am having problems with is the "CBS Sports" app. The only sound that was assigned to the "CBS Sports" app was a default iPhone app, and now it makes kind of a metallic clunk that you really cannot hear very well.

When I go to "NOTIFICATIONS" and then click on the "CBS Sports" app, and then "SOUNDS", the sliding switch is on the right side and it is showing green, but when you try and press on it, nothing happens. I have checked with the developers of the "CBS Sports" app, but they have not been helpful. I have spoken with Apple support and they tried a few things like hard restarting, but nothing really worked.

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate you listing the steps of how to make this work. Thank you very much!

I’m wondering why I would ever get another iPhone (iPOS) …

I’ve had so many issues with this phone for 6 months to the point I can’t even use the phone more than 80% of the time!

Over the last couple months, I’ve spent over 15 HOURS on the phone with a supoort, Sr. advisors and they have not helped me with ANY issues.

Oh and the camera still sucks for taking night pics.

Hi, thank you for your reply... I do appreciate it. Unfortunately after I tried what you suggested it did not change anything. I agree completely that Apple needs to fix this, and since this has been going on for at least two weeks I do not understand why there has been such a delay.

I really do like my iPhone, but my friends who have the Samsung Galaxy 23 do not have these problems.

If anyone else is able to come up with a solution, believe me, it would be much appreciated by a lot of people. Thanks!

I have the same issue as well. I enjoy my privacy so I hope Apple fixes this because I don’t like to turn my banner, Notification Center, and Lock Screen on. I just want to hear the sound like I have been for years. This happened after this software update

I am unable to receive any notifications or sms messages since the update on my Apple Watch (Which has an LTE plan) unless my phone is turned on. Cell provider worked on the iPhone 14 setting and watch setting for over an hour. Called Apple today worked with them for over an hour, elevated to level 2 tech support. Only answer they could provide was to elevate it to engineering or call my provider and cancel my watch LTE plan and open a new plan. I will post update once Apple tech support calls me back Sunday afternoon after speaking with "Engineering"

I had not thought about this until now, but I too do not get Siri notifications for text message in my Airpods any longer. Bummer, as I really like this feature. By the way, tech support always ends up suggesting a hard reset as a last resort. IMHO, it's a waste of time and effort in a situation like this with a widely reported problem.

Same thing here, also iPhone 13 mini. Not getting WhatsApp sounds anymore. All other system sounds are normal. And the notifications toggle of WhatsApp in Apple Watch is missing, so I can't turn it on or off.

I have tried going to the do not disturb as someone had recommended. I added apps. I did have one app come back on to my notifications with its notification tone I had assigned. Happy about that one because it is my important email. Everything else is still the same. Jacked up!🤬

iPhone 13 pro max update to ios 17.0.2 now I cannot find any of my ringtones to use as sound for text messages or any other notifications. None of the selections allow me to choose ringtones except for phone calls. This used to work flawlessly. The update appears to have broken the notifications selections.

Same issue and Apple tried to say to download tones appropriately for alert tones , SMS tones and ring tones. For years I have used the same tones and now with 17.0.2 it’s a problem. Apple fix this issue.

I have downloaded quiet a lot of ringtones in my apple/iTunes. NONE of these tones work since upgrade to iOS17.0.1 I agree Apple gave no notifications to us here in apple land ‘making them RICH’ the only consultant is to request a RINGTONE refund. Look at your Apple account & search for refund/tones. After many years with Apple,

I have now decided to return to Samsung, these models all have tone selection for your individual contacts.

Apple is just OTT with not informing us.

Good morning! I want to say that after I came here yesterday, text sounds randomly started happening, and it continued all day and into this morning .

So maybe it's kinda like when you're sick and you call the Dr and then all of a sudden you slowly start to feel better before your appt...who knows.

So, i'm going to say my phone is cured from this update! Let's hope it stays cured.

It would be nice to know they’re at least working on it. Might not be an easy fix.

They have to determine the issue, develop a solution, test it, test it, test it, then promote in a release. People need some patience here too.

Well thanks to Apple and not getting my security camera alerts and their terrible rebound sound and not the tri tone sound we missed car break ins. So I am new phone shopping I can’t stress any longer about missing an alert, text or call. I have sent them messages, feedback chatted with reps that don’t care.
