After latest update IOS 17, iphone 13 mini wont get anymore sound notifications. Calls are normal.

After iOS 17.2.1 the whole notifications cocktail involving the iPhone and Apple Watch is a complete disaster, utter shambles. I receive an SMS yet I get NO notification sound AT ALL on either the phone or the watch and no visible indication that I have received an SMS either, nothing, I literally have no idea I have received a message unless I open the app! Nothing on the watch and nothing / no badge on the phone. Yet I can open up Messages on the watch or the phone and can see them all sat there, unread. What's the point of having these insanely expensive devices if they can't even perform the most basic phone functions? This will be the last Apple purchase for me. Sure Android has its problems but Apple is total shambles at the moment! I get the feeling Apple is trying to be way more clever than it actually is, trying to link and mirror too many things and when the wheel comes off it comes off big time, and takes way to long to put back on!!!
what if i dont want any notification on lockscreen banner or notification center but only a sound.

Yes.
Easy fix. Open the Watch app and scroll down to Messages. Select custom and then select send to notification center.
Thanks a bunch. It was not obvious for me since I updated new phone and ios software at same time. This of course worked.
No I don’t have an Apple Watch and I’m having the same problems with my messages. I’m sure apple support is being deluged with these messages and hope a fix is coming soon.
Hello~ Do you realize turning off Bluetooth turns off Find My and Location Services? No Find My is a pretty hazardous way to roll as no Find My …no AppleCare.

I feel bad I thought my security camera company did this and I was not happy with them. Telling them to fix it when it was Apple’s doing. It’s so ridiculous we can’t control sounds we want on the phone we brought that weren’t cheap.
Turning on a banner for the app allows notification sounds to come thru...it's annoying if you don't like banners but at least you get the sound. I did this for messenger and snapchat and it works.
Hopefully the come out with the update to fix soon.
I am on the same boat. I get alerted vibrate or tone, but no new messages are showing on my Apple watch ultra when they arrive. Affected Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, Discord, LINE, SnapChat. This is so annoying. Only happened after updating to iOS 17.
Apple support please look into and fix this ASAP.
So after everyone trying everything to get the phone to do what it should ….. altered settings etc etc …. When it has been addressed how will we know bar from again going thru all the settings to see !!!
Apple blame third parties that they haven’t updated to work with iOS 17 but Apple needs to listen and help us out !!!!
ME TOO! only getting sound notifications with Messages if i have all the banners turned on .. otherwise it’s silent with only badges showing! please fix! i’ve tried all of the above including resetting and restarting iphone. iphone 14 pro updated to ios 17 this morning and already regretting it!
