Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. Way back when the Watch was originally released, Apple made a big deal out of explaining how it could be used to cut down on the distraction of notifications. Especially if you have the watch on silent, the notifications are discreet, much less annoying to people around you. It was one of the major reasons I got the first watch. And, as a lot of people around me have Apple Watches, my life is certainly improved by not having to listen to other people's alerts going off.

But, you should certainly let Apple know your thoughts here:

Ringtones can no longer be used as Alert tones, whether home made m4r or purchased, Only tones purchased as Alert tones.

Custom m4r can still be dragged in as Ringtones.

PS my Whatsapp still alerts me with sound. Try changing the tone.

As a temporary workaround, turn on the Notification Center option under the Alerts. See picture. Worked for me.

Can you get notifications on the phone while wearing your watch?

I’m experiencing no text notifications as well. I’ve checked all the settings, hard starting, turning off and I still have nothing. I’m not a fan of the side bar in texts either.

I don’t understand why there seems to be some new issue when an update is done. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Updated to IOS 17 today. A few of my apps, Messenger, Snapchat, Instagram, Tiktok, all have the same notification sound now. It's quiet and it's short. The only one I was able to fix was Messenger. I have deleted the other's and re-downloaded them, tried to turn my phone off and back on, and still no change. I also have to leave Discord running in the background because when I completely shut the app down and go to re-open it later, it freezes on the start up Discord logo and then crashes. I have had to delete and re-download 4 times. I'm more concerned with the notification for the above apps mentions since each one had different distinct ones and now they are all the same and too quiet even when ringer is all the way up. It's annoying and I want my regular notification sounds back.

Also, my markup is different. If the pic I'm trying to edit has a dark background, I won’t even be able to see the edit and it also deleted all of my custom colors. 😒

Last thing… any idea when autocorrect will work while using all CAPS?

Since iOS 17 and 17.1 I have no sound notifications on what’s app and messenger and iMessage.

Have checked everything out accordingly. All correct.

Its so annoying and frustrating.

Not the first time this has happened. Wish they’d sort themselves out.

I’m having the same issue I even went into the Apple Store and they did a restore on my phone deleted all of my apps and re-added them. Still having the same issue I just did the recent update 17.1 and no change.

before update it's work perfectly

Everyone just keep sending Apple feedback. Doubt they listen but all we can do is try there are millions of iPhone users out there and I doubt any of them are happy with this update! I know this sound board isn’t!!
