To start with: I'm not intending to say that the cause of this problem is due this or this. I only want the iOS users where I work to be able to print the way they was able before 17 and to know what has caused the problem not how to "make it to away".
I have read the 5 step "turn it off and on again solution" and I have read that it seem to work on some devices in some networks.
When a solution to a problem is to "turn it off and on" the problem is doomed to come back until the actual cause is fixed. This might work in a SOHO environment but not in larger organisations where the device count on both iOS/IpadOS devices and printers it counted in hundreds or thousands.
I wan't to add one thing that I've made in a quest to find what's the cause of this.
We have thousands of client devices and >1000 iPads in the organization where I work and we immediately blocked upgrade to iOS/iPadOS 17 when we understood that AirPrint stopped working after upgrading to 17.x.
I have tried to get iPads back to 16 but so far the only model that I could do it with has been with iPad gen 6.
Result: AirPrint worked like before when they did run on 16. Nothing was done on printers (server handled, not SOHO devices), router (large firewall), DNS'es or any other parts of the network. Just downgraded the devices to 16.
I just did the following on one iPad 6 gen:
Running on 16.7.2: AirPrint printers visible.
Restore from 16.7.2 to 17.1 via DFU - result: No AirPrint printers visible.
Restore from 17.1 to 16.7.2 via DFU - result: AirPrint printers visible.
Restore from 16.7.2 to 17.1 via DFU - result: No AirPrint printers visible.
Restore from 17.1 to 16.7.2 via DFU - result: AirPrint printers visible.
No other changes in the network environment was made.
How many times shall this be performed back and forth to get statistics if AirPrint works or not until this is seen as something that was introduced / changed (maybe not a real bug) in 17 since the problem isn't in 16.7.2 but in 17.x.?
As I wrote in the beginning I'm not on a quest to whine about this or that. I just wan't my users to be able to use AirPrint as before 17.x
I tried to do the reset with the VPN on and it didn't work so went into my Norton App and deleted VPN on my iPhone and did the reset as described above and now I can print from my phone. I had been able to print with the VPN on prior to the IOS 17 update. Makes me a little nervous not to be able to have it secure in order to print. Went through a serious hack earlier this year, so I really hope this is addressed with an fix by Apple
1530, I want to thank you for posting this walk through. This worked perfectly to fix this printing problem with our Canon MF260 printer.
I never would have figured out that a printer firmware update was required to fix this bug after a iOS update had it not been for your post here.
Thank you very much!
After reading so many of these comments I beg that Apple get involved in the Apple Community and pay attention to what so many of these users are saying. This is an issue that started with iOS 17. My parents and I both have a Canon Imageclass D570. The devices that have been updated to iOS 17 no longer print to this printer. The phone can see the printer and select the printer. Once this is done it disappears. Devices that have not updated the software can still print as normal. It is not a network issue. All reboot steps have been followed multiple times. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, as well updating drivers and software. It's not a conspiracy theory and please be kind when replying to others. The simple fact is an update patch needs to be done and hopefully Apple will take care of that promptly.
Bit of an update. My Samsung printer fails to print in a different way from that which others are reporting. It is shown on the phone, and appears to print successfully (I don't get the 'No Airprint printers found' error) - indeed the printer springs into life. But when it prints, I get a sheet of paper with this error printed instead of the document:
URF ERROR - Incomplete Session by time out
Experimenting with workarounds - some of the suggestions in this thread do work for me, but not for long. I have not found a simpler workaround which remains reliable. This morning, first print failed with above error, toggling flight mode and wifi, and trying again did work. But no longer. Now I am only getting errors - though rebooting just the phone does then allow me to print.
A bit of a puzzle and I look forward to a fix.
I followed the steps suggested. Then tried to print from my iPhone. When it reads "No Printer Selected" I click on that and my printer name does appear. It circles a bit and then reverts to "No Printer Selected". Am I missing something?
Tried variety of other things - e.g. getting into the printer configuration and turning Airprint off to force an error on the phone, then back on again to force reloading the printer.
All workarounds might work for a day or so, but not permanently. I still cannot print and still get the same error.
Looks like three options - give up on printing from my phone (which I was doing daily so may drive moving off Apple and back onto Android), purchase a new printer (but note my current printer is listed by Apple as an Airprint supported printer so who knows which one will work), or wait for Apple to acknowledge the problem and provide a fix in an iOS update.

Lawrence: Wow, such arrogance.
The steps don't work for everyone, certainly not for me. If you can't be helpful, don't blame everyone and everything else.
I've had that conversation with him already, either way, it is confirmed to be a bug, but in some cases updating firmware on a printer may help, but in the end, Apple appear to have fixed it in the 17.2 betas.
I DLed 17.1.2 and confirm what Crispy Pancake just posted: it does *not cure the problem. Phone still cannot find any AirPrintsrs. Since Sunday (5 days ago), I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem with Apple, both in Chats, and then escalated to a Phone call. The Reps tell me Apple “is aware” of the bug, but offer no timetable for a fix. I’m not signed up to get Beta, and so if there is a 17.2 Beta IOS , that is of no import to me. I welcome to this discussion group any posts regarding news of another iOS upgrade.
Update your printer’s firmware. This worked for me. Canon MF232w. I could do it on the device itself:
Menu > System Management > Update Firmware. Fixed :-D
My wife updated her iPad and she could no longer print. I did not update my iPad and I could print flawlessly as always.
I tried Lawrence’s fix 3 full times. In order. For the full duration. It did not work.
I updated my printer’s firmware. Fixed. Hope this helps. <3
This did not help me. I specifically cannot print anything but BLANK pages when I receive work texts and I screen shot it, crop it, and save it to PHOTOS. That is when I cannot print. That is all I print all day for my WORK!!!!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!! They are just RUINING THINGS THAT WORKED FINE BEFORE. They are going to push people to go to androids where you get tons of apps, I hear for FREE, rather than having to pay for everything with APPLE!!!! They are total money hungry wolves!
Correct! I have two old brother printers, firmware all up to date on both. Worked perfectly fine until the recent iOS 17 update.
Did full reset of everything connected and the problem still persists.
I could certainly understand if this were the only forum with concerns, or one specific printer, but there are many others out there with different printers confirming the same problem.
Unplug, reset etc might work completely or only for a short time then stop working the next day.
There is a definite problem but what is causing it is a mystery and I hope Apple and/or printer providers
will work together to solve it.
This is also exactly my experience - even without really knowing what's changed (apart from leaving the house with my phone and later coming back) one day I may be able to print, the next day not.

As to whether this fixes the problem, I'll have to wait a day or two and see if I can continue to Airprint each day as I could before iOS 17.1.
OK. Short update.
Day 1 following install (which naturally included a phone reboot) - printing
Day 2 - still printing
So things are so far looking positive.
Day 3 - got URF ERROR - Incomplete Session by time out, and the document did not print
So, no 17.2 does not fix the Airprint printing problem for me. Which is disappointing.
We’ve had two iOS updates since this problem first appeared neither of which fixes the problem for me. Do we know that it has been acknowledged and that a fix is on the way at some point?
Switching the printer and iPhone (iOS 17.2) off and on again (iPhone first) has restored my AirPrint ability. Printer is an EPSON WF-3520, no new firmware update available since years (just tested again).
