The iPhone autocorrect keeps adding extra letters when I text

The auto correct is very frustrating. When I type some thing it adds letters to it which I assume I’m supposed to automatically insert but it adds additional letters which I then have to go back and delete. I don’t like my text second-guessing what I’m trying to write.

For me, lately it has started adding words at the of other words. For example, I just typed the sentence “I’m happy to help” and it changed it to “I’m happy to helpto” or “I’m at the soccer game” becomes “I’m at the soccer gamethe”. It’s always the word that is a couple words before the other word. And recently it’s started capitalizing every word in the sentence I’m typing instead of just the first word. :-/

Dear Apple programming, did ANYONE actually USE this product before for dumping it on the consumer? Apple, please read this entire thread of comments and fix it promptly! Clearly, I am not alone, after reading this whole thread.

We rely on your product as it used to be before these revisions. We need professional messages, not the garbage this allegedly customer “better” automated system corrects to. Please, these new features updates go away, we all do we use these phones for work and personal. It’s frustrating I’m spending so much time proofing my documents, text, anything on the Apple platforms anymore. Voice texting or Reminders calendars on the fly. Used to be such a saver for me on the road or dealing with a customer. Now I can’t rely on it and it was more time to use it. You can’t even bypass the automation by typing everything yourself the way you need it.

Most of the time voice texting does not allow you to put in punctuation, such as commas exclamation point, quotation marks, etc. It refuses to recognize numbers of any kind, such as addresses or dollar financial figures and so much more. I used to love the AutoCorrect when you found you forgot to capitalize the first letter of a word. It was simple you just went back hit the up arrow. It suggested it in the spellcheck line in case you didn’t like it you clicked on it fixed now. It just gives us a whole new word. It will never ever bring the word you’re using that you simply want to capitalize the first letter.

I am not riding a casual document or text if I voice text the words want to or going to. This update refuses to allow me to use my words and uses wanna and gonna. I hate those words even in my personal use.

I don’t understand why it refuses to let me make corrections many times, so I go back and try to delete the whole sentence and retype it The system won’t let me in various ways. Why can’t we move the cursor to where we need to move it? Why can’t we highlight one word, whenever we want to highlight it, instead of the system defaulting to highlighting the entire document many times? Why can’t I move the highlight suggestion and continue highlighting to where I need to go, another thing I’m not allowed to do. Many times if you highlight a paragraph grab the end bar thinking, you can go down and highlight the whole document because you need to use it in another document you have open. It just keeps dragging the same highlighted section all throughout your document. Many times, you can’t even highlight one word and type over it yourself. It refuses to move. Oddly, if you do want to highlight a paragraph to rearrange it in a document, it will not allow you, yet three seconds ago, when you were correcting something it wouldn’t quit doing it

What has happened to the recent update where they added the ability to move the cursor with the spacebar? I’ve noticed for quite some time, taking my finger and trying to put my cursor in a document has been very unreliable, the spacebar worked great.

Why does Apple refuse to recognize the correct spelling of my first name. It’s punctuation and grammar, taking out words, capitalizing for no reason in the middle of a sentence, properly, putting him two spaces after anproperly, putting him two spaces after a period and so much more as noted by many.

If anyone has read this far, you will see I gave up on fixing the garbage. This apple product is putting in.

For God sake, I want to throw my iPad or iPhone against the wall in frustration. Auto correct update in late 2023, is horrid.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. So, any imprecations to them are a waste of time. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

I have it only happen on my MacBook. Im not good about my apostrophes and I like that it corrects me that way, but it CONSTANTLY corrects It's to It'ss, and I just saw it change Let's to Let'ss. And it only happens once Ive hit the period at the end of my sentence. And then underlines it in red like, uh, chick, this is wrong, hello? And Im like UH I KNOW A**HAT, thats all you! Super frustrating. Is it worth turning autocorrect off just for that?

How do we change autocorrect? Can changes to Candace, the to Theresa, not to bit.. that one drives me insane. I type in “not” and it’s not in the dictionary???? It keeps changing to bit. Makes me look real smart when I’m replying to work emails on my iPad and iPhone. Get it together Apple. Allow us to add to dictionary or fix these idiotic errors in your “AI”, “I”.
