Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

I just updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 17. Since the update the Blink security app notification sound changed and now is very quiet. I went to Settings/Notifications/Blink and the only option is Sounds with an on/off button - no way to change sound or increase volume.

I notified Blink and their Customer Support said to contact Apple. I told them this is not my singular problem but is a Blink problem. No go, they keep pointing at Apple.

Looks like we have a circular firing squad...

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I've been in touch with Blink through e-mail, and they act like they don't even know what I'm talking about. There's no way they haven't had a million complaints about this. I told them to wake up their programmers and put some sounds in the app instead of depending on Apple to supply the sounds. Still waiting on an answer.

This is the 4th email I got from Blink and I’m disheartened with the response. 😔

Thanks for getting back to us Sarah

We do apologize for the inconvenience but we're afraid that the new notification sound is a global update which means that we can't change or roll it back as it was before. We understand the frustration and we'll be relaying this to our higher-ups.

Hope this gave some understanding and have a good day!

It’s so frustrating I’m no longer able to hear notifications post IOS 17 update. Apple and Blink (Amazon) are both aware of this problem. But we are talking about SECURITY! At this point I will just have to take the lost and replace all 5 of my Blink cameras. As a senior citizen on a fix income I really can’t afford to do this but I will ask family members to help and make it an early Christmas present! I have and will inform everyone I know of the problems Apple & Blink are having sounds and notifications from Amazon Blink’s security.

Hello~ As omniscience as you seem to think Apple may be…they can’t force a business to really do anything at all. What do you want them to do ? Remove the App from the App Store? Can you just imagine the uproar that would cause?? Be careful what you wish for. This now is in the hands of Blink. I am just grateful I can hear my notification now. I have a large investment in this Blink system and until it becomes untenable for me I will stick with it. Looking elsewhere though.

I’m really disgusted with it all now since September and 3 updates. After the second update, somehow I got my original loud alert back . Then this last update, camera sounds are back to a low tone. While I was away from my cameras, with no alert sound that could be heard to warn me, a fire broke out on my property and because of no loud alerts, 3 of my 10 blink cameras that were in this area, my outside barn with my grandson’s keepsakes burned to the ground. I’m going to stop using blink and as soon as I can afford to , I will be changing phones. I just don’t get it, for a month after the second update, I had my tones back, and the. The 3rd update, very low tone, so low I was in my kitchen and could not be alerted to this fire on my property. This is unacceptable!!! What is next? Someone breaking in and no time to protect myself because of this darn low sound.

tried some of the fixes on here with no luck. But one guy commented that you could have Siri announce your notifications. I followed the instructions I found on line and now my phone will announce my blink notifications over my phone speaker. I don't even have to look at the phone, it announces which camera it detects motion from. You can set it for any app or just the blink app.

Just go to setting, accessibility, then go to Siri near the bottom, turn on announce notifications on speaker, click the arrow for announce notifications, turn on announce notifications at the top and choose the apps that you want it to announce

Think we should all post publicly on sites so people don't buy the system for use with iPhones. We have had both Blink and iPhone for years and this is a recent issue. We have been happy with both but with Prime days coming up people should be warned about the issue. They would not know as a new purchaser of the Blink System that there is an issue using it with Apple. It does work but the alert is way too quiet.

Ok Folks… The default tone after the iOS 17 update set by Apple that we now hear for the Blink App is called “Rebound”… This tone is not set by Blink as it is also the default tone for other App Notifications like “My Radar” and others… So as Katana-San has correctly suggested I will contact Product Feedback - Apple with my findings and request a different default tone that we can hear… I will report back to this Forum afterwards…

I got this in an email but can’t find it in the discussion.

It’s essentially a non-answer/explanation.

“We don’t have any access” ?!? It’s your app. You should have complete access. Apple evolved. Blink did not.

Blink needs to fix this.

🤦‍♂️ (“fantastic” hours btw. I’ll be sure to set an alarm for 3am so we can chat)
