Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

I just updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 17. Since the update the Blink security app notification sound changed and now is very quiet. I went to Settings/Notifications/Blink and the only option is Sounds with an on/off button - no way to change sound or increase volume.

I notified Blink and their Customer Support said to contact Apple. I told them this is not my singular problem but is a Blink problem. No go, they keep pointing at Apple.

Looks like we have a circular firing squad...

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

My specific problem has been that since upgrading to IOS 17, ALL of my app notification sounds changed to a short, low volume "blip" sound, not just Blink. Today, after trying to change a few settings, all my notification sounds returned, and Blink now sounds like a more substantial "beh-roop" sound (kinda like a thick liquid drop). Not exactly sure what specifically fixed the problem, but here's what I did in case you wanted to try.

I double checked all the usual suspect Notifications and Sounds & Haptics settings to make sure they were set correctly and found nothing wrong. Then in Sounds & Haptics, I changed the ring tones for Text Tone and New Mail, and then set them back to default in order to test the ringtones and hopefully reset them. Then I went into Notifications and into the various individual apps whose notification sounds were not working correctly and changed their tones and then set them all back to default. I think the last app I changed was the Mail (Safari) app's sound under Notification, Customize Notifications, selected my mail provider's account name under Accounts, and noticed my Alerts setting was toggled off and I toggled that back on. Within a few minutes I received both an email and Blink notification that sounded normal. Again, I'm not sure what specifically fixed the problem, but in my case, it seems it may have been resetting the apps whose notifications were sounding distorted and turning on the Mail app's Alert on-off toggle that had been turned off during the IOS 17 install.

Your mileage may vary.... Good luck.

I disagree. Blink is doing nothing. When was the last time they even updated their app? Most apps have updated 20 times since the last Blink update. Every game you download has it's own music and sounds. How hard can it be for Blink to add in-app sounds? I'm getting pretty tired of walking around with my Iphone duct taped to my ear so I can hear it. COL! ( crying out loud )

Glenvis,

I am having the same problem with Google home app.

I have reached out to Apple, they blame Google.

I reach out to Google and their response was that it was Apple's fault and my ability to make setting changes on my IPhone.

The Google tech's email stated at the end, "...You can contact us again and reference this case number or reply to this email to reopen your case."

I responded with a lot of information pertaining to my particular situation and ended it with "I request case number is X-XXXXXXXXXX93 remain open and escalated to the next level until this matter is resolved.

This is an issue and it needs to be addressed. I do recommend you leave formal feedback everywhere and do not let it go until this matter is corrected. I will do the same.

Best regards,

I tested the Alexa app

for Blink camera push notifications, but it is not working for me, at least not

for me. I installed the Blink skill in the Alexa app, and from that point on,

the Blink cameras were recognized as devices in the app. Then I created a routine

with the text "Motion detected in camera X" and a sound from the

Alexa sound library to play on my phone (you can choose it as a device). If the

Alexa app is running in the foreground, I get a push notification with the text

and the sound selected in the routine. However, if the Alexa app is in the

background or the phone is locked, I get a push notification with the text, but

the sound is not the one I selected in the routine. Can you guess which one it

is? It's the darn rebound. Of course, I have background app refresh

enabled.

I have iPhone 14pro max. I’m reluctant to update to IOS 17 but have been keeping up with the IOS 16 updates. I noticed Blink audio went SILENT a day or so after updating to IOS 16.7.2 last week. Around that time Blink also had one of their many updates. The two may be connected. It worked great prior to the updates. So in my case IOS 17 is not the cause. I have complained to Blink, who based on previous issues, are useless. Someone (Amazon/Blink or Apple) need to get on the ball and fix this issue ASAP and stop bellyaching who is at fault!!

How many apps and games do you have on your phone? Don't most of them have their own sounds built into their apps? This is just a case of Blink not wanting to do anything to help their customers. How many sounds did they build into their app? Zero, that's how many. Blink has had more than enough time to add sound notifications into their app so they don't have to depend on Apple for the notifications. Why aren't they doing their jobs? This stalemate with Apple is putting people's lives at risk.
