HomePod OS 17.0 asking to accept terms & conditions

I have updated original HomePod pair to OS 17.0, my Apple TV to tvOS 17.0 and my iPad to iPadOS 17… when I ask Siri to play a radio station on my HomePod it starts to say it is playing via TuneIn but then states that I need to accept Apple Music terms and conditions on all devices. I logged out of iCloud on the iPad, rebooted and then logged back into iCloud but it did not prompt for any new T’s & C’s. I cannot logout out of tvOS (logout button is greyed out) because it is the only Apple ID logged in on the Apple TV. I’m stuck. How do I accept apple T’s & C’s? I also have an iPhone 13 still on latest iOS 16.x and a couple Mac’s. I have not yet upgraded to new home architecture in Apple Home on iOS.

I just figured out that I had not launched Apple Music on the iPad after updating its iPadOS. Once I launched it and logged in with my Apple ID then the HomePod error message disappeared and the HomePods would play music finally.

Similar problem for me, two Homepods tied in as a stereo pair with Apple TV. I have to accept Apple Music terms and conditions, except I don't have Music, not paying for it, so why this requirement? What I can see is Apple is offering me 6 months free trial of Music and I cannot see anywhere that I can kill that. So I am guessing that I will have to accept the 6 months and then have to remember to stop it later. But first I will try unlinking and relinking to A-TV.

Not a serious issue, getting that free for six months, but super weird. I can't understand why that stops me using the Apple TV linked pair to listen to iHart or TuneIn radio stations. The other Homepod I have in the house is working as normal, lets me listen to radio via Siri.

I have same problem. I unpaired and repaired my two HomePods which disconnected them from Apple TV payback then I could ask Siri to play music on them. What I want is to play music without the TV and to play film sound through the TV when I’m watching. It seems HomePods can only do one or the other, independent or linked as stereo tv speaker, but not both as I could do before ????

As a former Apple software engineer, I think it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t tell you exactly which device has the problem, or as others have suggested, give you the option to accept the terms once, on any device that’s convenient. I have about 20 different devices that I would need to check. Fortunately, it appears that the problem was Apple Music on the Apple TV paired to the HomePods in my case as well. My wife and daughter were starting to get upset with me.

This seems like a bug, and I’d recommend reporting it as such via the Feedback app.

This was extremely frustrating — checked all my iPads, iPhones even signed in on my Mac into iTunes incase there was something I was missing. Reset the home Pod multiple of times. Even removed the HomePod and still no joy. Even went into the Apple Settings on the AppleTV to select the T&Cs but nothing there.

This had been going on for several days. Until I read about the Opening Apple Music on the TV.

Surely there is a much easier and simpler way to make this better for users.
