iOS 17 Storage Space Bug / Issue

I refuse to do the new update because I will not have enough gb for to backup my iPhone 11!

I am not ready to buy a new phone because mine works perfectly.

I don’t need a new iPhone Bill . When is enough enough. I refuse to sync all my devices because it basically eats up more storage.

I have 200gb in the cloud and can not figure out why I bother pay for it every month and don’t understand how to get the best use it of it.

I am getting ready to drop my insurance on this phone. My outer box cover is incredible/ once a month I take the phone out to ck on it and it In perfect condition like the day I purchased my phone.

Well, I tried to install the iPadOS 17.0.3 update. It said it was only 543mb, I had 6gb of storage available. But it too failed, came back saying they needed 5 plus GB to install.

this is a real mess here. Apple needs to get their act together and fix this problem.

I well say the phone updated fine. But the iPad is still a problem.

I installed iOS 17.0.3 earlier today and it did basically nothing. At 90GB full out of 128GB capacity, I’m still about 40GB more full than the 50GB I used to be at on iOS 16. Apple has this info as well as some system diagnostic files and supposedly an engineer is looking into it. I am very concerned.

For those wondering what is happening with this issue, I have been working with a senior support person and Apple engineering, and here is some hopefully encouraging news:

”Im back into office and see Engineering has sent one last final email. They have now deemed this as something they are currently working on and will release something soon (no estimated timeframe) to fix this issue. This usually is in the form of a new update. They have gotten other reports on this as well and have now considered this an emerging issue. So with that, if you do choose to exchange your device that is still totally fine if you do not prefer to wait on the fix they are working on.”

I am still dealing with same issue. I put all my pictures in the cloud/ I no longer receive my mail on my phone I desperately need more gb / now when I take a picture on my I phone I can’t send it to my email address because there is no message green logo in the cloud. So I have been asking my friend to send the pictures to my email.

64 gb should not be sold. I have an older friend he cannot do the download because of the same issue.

we both have 11 pro iPhone kind of joke because of not having convenience of taking spontaneous for that fact any pictures.

I am disappointed as I pay 2.99 for Icloud storage 200 gb. Not thrilled and am extremely disappointed .

The IOS17 update wants to download a 6.5 gig software patch. I'm very sure that the total IOS on an iPhone 13 isn't bigger than 2.5 gig. That kind of download takes about 20 hours on a standard connection. Guess it's beyond my want or need!

This all started when they got bored and decided to replace the Apple book reader with a severely broken piece of garbage, they have had to patch and update a thousand times. I believe they hired someone incompetent who is making more trouble than they are fixing. Maybe the CEO's son needed a job out of school?

Thank you for posting about this! I am losing my mind every morning as my phone says storage is full as it somehow comes up with 10GB of messages every night. Each day I’ve been deleting and then overnight it’s sucked dry again. I was forced to update my phone due to a new Apple Watch 9. Usually I wait it out to update until these kind of bugs are worked out. I’m so annoyed at this and sounds like nothing we can do?

This! I only upgraded to ios 17 because I purchased a Series 9 and therefore had no choice. And in return I have diminished battery life and far less storage. We've been here before, you'd think they'd have learnt by now. Enough is enough with this software subterfuge.

Have you tried a roll back?

Hold down the Option/Alt key and click on Restore iPhone. You should be able to select the version of iOS you wish to install on the iPhone from your downloads folder. Click on Open. A message will appear saying which version of iOS you will install – this should be the one you have selected.

Restore from back-up;

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Tap Manage Account Storage, then tap Backups. Tap a backup to see more details about it, choose which information to back up, or delete the backup.

I tried to roll back from ios 17 to 16 the way you mentioned and my phone was bugging out. Apps crashed all the time. Tried to reinstall but that did not solve the issues. I really really hope apple fix this soon. Now after 17.1.1 the phone app has gone from 2.5 gb to 900 mb. There is still room for improvements.

1. ⁠Open settings/camera/formats and enable ProRes.

2. ⁠Open camera app and enable ProRes (top left corner)

3. ⁠Let the camera clear the cache space to record ProRes video. This might not work with a 128gb device though since ProRes is disabled.

Hi since upgrading to iOS17 my Synced Content appeared. now at 27.77GB. Due to this it is stopping me from doing any further updates, due to lack of percieved free storage space. Unable to see how to rectify, even with lots of internet searching!!

This method got my sustem data reduced from 90gb to just 7gb.

1. ⁠Open settings/camera/formats and enable ProRes.

2. ⁠Open camera app and enable ProRes (top left corner)

3. ⁠Let the camera clear the cache space to record ProRes video. You have to repeat multiple times while changing in between 30 and 60 from the top corner.
