Facetime app on my Apple TV 4K won't work.

FaceTime on my Apple TV doesn't show my name my name as a choice. It just says Other. When I click on that it has me scan the QR code on the screen. When I tap Connect to Apple TV, nothing happens. It says connecting then never does. I've logged out and back in a few times but nothing works. I've performed a factory reset twice to no avail. I force quit the app as well as rebooted the ATV. The phone I'm using with the continuity camera is a 13 Pro Max with iOS 17. What else can I try?

I had the same issue. But it worked for me after I removed my Apple ID user (Setting-> Users and Accounts -> Default User -> Remove User from Apple TV) and added myself again using “Sign in with iPhone or iPad”

I have the same issue too. Tried to connect my iPad Pro (2020) and iPhone 11, both on iOS 17.0.1 to connect with my Apple TV 4k (both 2nd and 3rd generation) on iOS 17; and it will not connect. It does not "see" my AppleID in the Apple TV facetime-app and also the QR-code to connect with, does not work. I have read somewhere, that it could have been related to a recently changed AppleID. I happen to have changed mine a month ago, so that could make sense.....

I am experiencing the same problem here in Europe. However, it is interesting that it works with my wife's iPhone. She is in the same Apple family group. For her, her name shows up and she can connect. She has also successfully made a FaceTime call.

For me, the ID does not show up and it does not work with the QR code. I can scan the QR code, but when I press the link, nothing happens at all. It doesn't work with my iPhone 12 Pro or iPad Air. all with iOS 17 update.

This seems to be a major Apple ios17 bug.

Did any of you recently change the email connected to your Apple ID? This MacRumors thread may be helpful to some... https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/tvos-17-and-facetime-no-user-in-list-qr-code-doesnt-work.2401584/

For those of you who do not have the Facetime icon at all on your Apple TV, that is a different issue. Your Apple TV is most likely an older model that doesn't support the issue. You need a 2nd gen or later Apple TV 4K to see the icon.

Something changed in the names of users. My problem started when I accidentally erased the FaceTime icon and had to reset the AppleTV - big pain. But the guys comment below about the daughter’s name coming up but not his was the beginning of fiddling with the names (while my spouse was expressing her unhappiness) and somehow, by changing the names, it started working again.

I too have the very same issue. Not in the list, QR code does nothing. iPhone 13 Pro Max. iOS 17.0.1.

I’ve tried removing my user account as primary user and adding it again to no avail. I haven’t tried adding another user as primary though. I’ll do that next.

Are any of you guys, by any chance, also having problems using the new SharePlay function where other users can collaborate on adding songs to the music app while using Carplay?

My family members get the notification to connect to collaborate but when they do, and I approve their request, nothing happens and a timeout error eventually shows. The same thing happens if they scan the QR code on the Carplay screen to try to connect.

I figure these issues might be related, especially if the theory that having changed the Apple ID email address recently has any credence.
