Facetime app on my Apple TV 4K won't work.

FaceTime on my Apple TV doesn't show my name my name as a choice. It just says Other. When I click on that it has me scan the QR code on the screen. When I tap Connect to Apple TV, nothing happens. It says connecting then never does. I've logged out and back in a few times but nothing works. I've performed a factory reset twice to no avail. I force quit the app as well as rebooted the ATV. The phone I'm using with the continuity camera is a 13 Pro Max with iOS 17. What else can I try?

I had the same issue. But it worked for me after I removed my Apple ID user (Setting-> Users and Accounts -> Default User -> Remove User from Apple TV) and added myself again using “Sign in with iPhone or iPad”

I have iOS 17.1 on my phone and TV OS17.1. No improvement. FaceTime doesn't recognize my phone, and using the QR code does nothing (says connecting but doesn't, and then text reverts to connect to AppleTV, which does nothing). C'mon, Apple! This is embarrassing that you can't get a promoted new feature to work months after the release.

Couldn’t agree more. Have spoken with 4 different so called senior advisors at apple support and keep getting the same response…” our engineers are aware and are working on it” …so who knows when???? Bad PR…

Wife has brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max and it doesn't work, doesn't work on my iPhone 12 either. At least with hers she can get past the QR code where I can't. It says it's accepted the call but shows no video, has no audio and eventually says disconnected. WiFi is 6 bars and we have gigabit ethernet. All devices on latest iOS and tvOS. Rebooted all devices no joy. I'm not into restoring our iPhones from iTunes to get it to work...that's just lame. Apple seriously this is ridiculous.

i've been trying for the last several days to activate FaceTime on my Apple TV. My Apple TV is model a 1625/as I understand it, gen 4.

I understood that it should work on this particular model.??

I also tried this camera thing and haven't been able to figure it out.

What I'd like to have frankly, is a "yes or no" – it does work on here and a techniques to assist with this; or, no, you just can't do FaceTime on this model and you will never be able to.

Can someone tell me that please?

Same here can't see myself as a user in Facetime

Well, in my end I did the step made it by andersfromnykvarn (thanks by the way) with iPad really work but iPhone 13 Pro Max still stuck on there, So any advice I'll read it everyone them

So I ended up buying the iPhone 15 pro max and when I logged in to Apple TV, the FaceTime app worked fine. Go figure.

was not working before with 11 pro max

new 15 pro max and now it works

Seems to be no relief in the TV system update. Sigh.
