iOS 17 bug: Wi-Fi not connecting after restart iPhone and iPad.

After iOS 17 update when I close the device, and then open it again, does not connect automatically with my Wi-Fi. I have to get in the settings and then close and open the Wi-Fi so it connects.

This is happening to all our family devices. iPhone 13, iPhone 14 plus, iPad mini, iPad Pro M2.

Finally figured it out. Dang, was starting to look at android phones. If you have done all the routine things and still no help, see if you have the google one app. Delete it. Even if you have VPN turned off, doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter that it all worked fine before the 17 update. I did everything including a complete restore of my phone, but since other iphones in the home with the same ios update did not have the problem, I figured it was some combination of the update and an app. I knew there was talk of von software causing an issue and I had this turned off. Didn’t matter. As soon as I deleted the google one app, wifi auto join and password entry was automatic once again. I am sure apple knows this but probably doesn’t care so much since it is a google *** incompatibility with the new upgrade, but son of a … Not a fun time figuring that out. Really odd that despite turned off in the main settings it was preventing my auto wifi recognition. I’d would think that worth looking at any VPN app as a possible suspect. Hope this helps anyone in this same situation.

Apple won’t allow devices to go back to the last functional software. I’ve been in tears asking them to please let me go back to IOS 16 because I can’t connect to wifi on any of my Apple devices since the IOS 17 update and I can’t do uni work. My final deadline is in April and I have my PhD thesis to finish writing up.

The property owner where I live has said they will allow an Ethernet cable but I have pay for it and the professional installation. I don’t have access to that kind of money and Apple can’t guarantee that this will fix the issue because they say that there isn’t an issue to start with.

how is this even legal???

My iPhone won’t connect to either my home WiFi or my provider Voxi (vodaphone) voxi say they are fixing mast in my area due to the weather but this has been going on for months. Got a text from them saying 3G is being shut down but won’t effect me. My iPhone shows 3G now and occasionally 4G. This has got worse since I updated and is asking me to do another update which I can’t because I have no internet. My sons are with other providers. I think they have iPhones, don’t seem to have any problems. I put my sim into an old iphone it works but I don’t have all my apps. I can’t decide I the problem is with my provider or Apple iPhone. It’s beyond frustrating almost like I’m being force to upgrade my phone.

I am very annoyed as I updated both my work iPad Pro s and neither will connect - I’ve tried everything so now I’ve had enough of Apple I will be buying a Google pixel 9 pro and pac which is £1000 cheaper , I’m totally sick of updates ruining normal use , first it was batteries , next it was screens , then it was camera , now it’s WiFi - sick of it goodbye
