iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

I’m having similar issues with my 15 pro max when I use VPN private internet access, when I turn on the vpn and leave it on overnight by the morning the WiFi doesn’t work, what I have to do is turn vpn back on and off and the internet works fine, this is on going since the launch of the iPhone , never had this issue with my 14 pro max.

I had the same issues since I picked up my iPhone on launch day. It's been very inconsistent with the WIFI. 3 other iPhones in the house [12 Pro Max, 12 Mini and 11], 4 iPads and 3 Mac books. All others had zero issues so it was pretty obvious that is was the new iPhone. I was on with Apple support quite a few times, they had me delete VPNs, change this and that, reset network settings [which I would do on my own]. The WIFI would sometimes work and other times not.

Fix: I asked them to ship me a new phone. I received it, sent to old one back and haven't had the issue once with the replacement [up to now]. I did purchase AppleCare+ when I picked up the original phone in September. I don't know if you need that for the replacement option, but that has definitely fixed my issue.

I can't believe after 3 months and several software updates, Apple still hasn't address this issue or fixed it.

But I have a small update. After giving up for some time, I circled back to the various threads from Apple Community, Reddit, and MacRumors and someone suggested renaming the SSID of their 5ghz wifi. Miraculously, my iPhone 15 Pro Max was able to connect to that channel and have internet connection. However, it seems unstable. It has lost internet connection within a couple of minutes a few times. I would have to either forget the network and reconnect or put it in and out of airplane mode to get it to reconnect. I'll have to continue using to see if it'll keep doing that.

For reference, my SSID was the default of "CenturyLinkXXXX-5G" (where the XXXX is the name for each of the apartment in my building). I renamed it to "CenturyLinkXXXX-test" and it seemed to work. I made no other changes to the wifi's channel, mode, bandwidth, etc; only changed the name of the wifi.

Good luck and godspeed.

Fingers crossed this helps my 15 Pro Max! It started dropping my home WiFi over the weekend and the privacy relay popped up. I turned the privacy relay off and it helped for about 2 hours then it started again.. my daughter’s newer 14 does the same. We reset the home router, forgot the network, etc. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The WiFi isn’t the issue, it’s something going on with the phones. Today for now, it is working ok. Last night I had to disconnect to send texts or send the sms. My husband’s older iPhone SE has zero WiFi connection issues along with every other device that uses the home WiFi..

Seems like this issue has returned with the recent update. I haven't had a problem since November '23, but after installing the recent iOS update my 15 Pro Max is back to the 2.4ghz network. No other devices on the network are having this issue except for my 15 Pro Max.

I have an eero network (not for much longer) and it doesn't off much control over the network. I used the wireless scanner tool and see my 5GHZ network is at 160mhz width. Is the channel width the cause of the problem? With eero I have no control over channel width and channel, but I suspect its fine as a 14 pro has no issue.

what I've tried:

• Restart phone, network, and modem

• Hard restart phone (5ghz connected for 30 seconds then bounced through the nodes and back to 2.4ghz)

• Reset network settings on iPhone

• Forgot network multiple times

I have been having this issue since it came out and have not been able to figure it out. I do suspect it was related to 5Ghz with my Eero Pro as I hadn't seen it happen elsewhere besides my house, and my past iPhone didn't have issues. Likely a software bug.

I did see the post about changing DNS from Automatic to Manual, and I'm not sure why that would make a difference, but with this being a software issue, you never know. I did make this change and it has seemed to resolve the issue for me. For others that said they did this and it did not work, make sure you are actually changing your DNS servers when choosing this option. If you switch to Manual, it still defaults to whatever your DNS record was on Automatic, likely not changing anything for you. When you get the option to type in a new DNS entry, choose some new ones. I am currently using Google (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), and saw the problem go away.

Hope this helps others out.

I’ve been doing some more digging and it seems to be only happening on networks pushing out 5GHz and broadcasting all 20/40/80/160hz ranges at same time

if I set it to broadcast 5GHz and 160Hz only I have no issues at all - i can come out of range of the WiFi and once back in range I have internet access

If I set 5GHz broadcast to 20/40/80hz only I get no issues at all - i can come out of range of the WiFi and once back in range I have internet access

if I set 5GHz broadcast to 20/40/80/160hz I loose internet connection on the iPhone until I disconnect from the ssid and connect again - one the ways I figured this out was leaving the house and coming back in - every time i rejoined I have no internet connection, Not until I disconnected from ssid and joined again - once I done this it was fine again until I went out of range and then came back in.

in the meantime I have setup a 2nd wifi router just to use for my iPhone so I can still have 20/40/80/160hz for the rest of my network

Just FYI, I’m using a Asus RT-AX82U router as my main router 5GHz (20/40/80/160hz)

2nd router I’m using just for the iPhone 15 pro max is an EERO 6 - using 2.4Ghz (20/40hz) & 5Ghz (20/40/80hz) since doing this device is working great on WiFi

I also don’t think it’s iOS 17 related and my IPhone 13 Pro Max was using the WiFi fine on iOS 17

I’ve just done a test and turned off Smart Control and split my SSID to 2.4GHz and 5GHz

my 5GHz is running 20/40/80/160hz - and it seems to be running stable now

so there seems to be a conflict in the phones hardware on working with Smart Control SSID that also broadcast 160Hz
