iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

There’s definitely something wrong with connections to 5GHz networks. Both of our phones are having an issue where WIFI shows full bars but there is no connection. If I switch over to my 2.4GHz network everything is fine in the same spot (albeit at lower speeds). Neither one of our previous devices had this issue with iOS 17 so I assume it’s the iPhone 15 Pro hardware.

This seems to be a larger problem as there’s a bunch of responses here with many different networks and brands.

I don't know why anyone would setup 160MHZ on a 5 GHZ band. The setting should be on 80MHZ, 160MHZ is asking for trouble. I have the Dream Machine SE from Ubitiqui along with 3 access points. If I am right next to my access points I get almost 900MBS down on a 1 gig setup with Spectrum. I have seen the signal strength drop for a few seconds on iPhone 15 Pro Max and that is the only issue and this only happens for a few seconds. Do the research and you will find that 5GHZ should not be set at 160MHZ. This was designed for 6GHZ bands only.

I had the same problem with the OnePlus 11 and returned it. It would loose WIFI, cell or BOTH. Took 4 months to get my refund but that's another story. I recently bought the 15 ProMax and had the exact same issues. I noticed an entry for AT&T Wifi. Deleting that, resetting the network, manually setting the phone to LTE, and turning off 5G helped... for a day. When the problem returned, I returned the iphone. Both of these phones use a Qualcomm X70 modem. It seems hardwired to prefer 5G and/or AT&T public WIFI over consumer WIFI. If the 5G is strong, it works fine but if it's weak and the 5G drops the phone doesn't revert to WIFI.

Does your router even support wifi 6e? If so, it may have AFC enabled or always on for use of the 6Ghz channels. If it does have AFC enabled/on the router will follow rules of use of the channels similar to 5Ghz DFS channels. Basically you can get kicked off the channel your router is using and your router may or may not switch you to a non-AFC channel.

If you don’t want to deal with this AFC/DFS channel rules you will have to setup a SSID with channels and bandwidth that don’t overlap with DFS or AFC channels.

DFS rules basically started with wifi6 prior to wifi 6e.

There are over 47,000 licensed AFC users that can force your wifi 6e router to kick you off the channel you are using.

There are only 7 160Mhz channels added to wifi 6e support in the 15Pro/Max. AFC rules to kick you off the channel you are using must be followed.

Just as a test make sure you only setup a SSID that uses 80Mhz bandwidth in a non-DFS channel.

Setup your phone to only connect to this SSID. I know it is not what most of us expected from wifi 6e but those are the facts.

Same I made a guest network and it works fine for me on my 15 pro max and when I try to connect to my main network it wasn’t working but I would say maybe 5-6 hours later when I retried to connect it worked.. but when I went to friends houses it wouldn’t connect so then I brought my phone to Apple and I showed them( because I took videos) and at Apple they connected it to there WiFi and it works fine so they told me there is no issue… so annoying

Just spent 4 hours rebuilding my Deco M4 mesh network after trying to make a change from the app on my 15 Pro Max. Ended up having to turn off wifi on the phone completely and configure everything using cell data over the internet. The second I turned on wifi on the phone during the process, the entire network collapsed every single time for some reason. It kicked all of the nodes off network the moment I enabled wifi on the 15 PM.

Several reboots of modem and each mesh node one at a time (7 of them) waiting several minutes after adding each to the network, I finally got it working again. It is always a little finicky even with old phone on wifi but impossible with 15 PM. The last thing I did was turn on wifi on 15 PM and held my breath waiting for entire network to go down again. After 4 or 5 tries doing this entire process (4 hours) if finally worked. Something is definitely messed up with the wifi on this thing. Deco M4 is 2.4/5 ghz, and usually a lot easier to get working.
