iPhone 15 Pro Max Wi-Fi Issues

I Hope apple or others can help me out - I’m having issues with WiFi on the IPhone 15 Pro Max

myself and others are having issues with using WiFi and 160hz - many have raised issues on Reddit posts - some cannot connect to there WiFi at all and others can connect like myself but have random issues with no internet from time to time

Mines working on 5GHz 160hz, but sometimes I’ll just have no internet connection (it’s still connected to the WiFi) - I have to disconnect from the WiFi and connect again for it to work.

I’m using ASUS RT-AX82U - 5GHz allowed Upto 160hz - I’m running 1gig internet so last thing I want to do is try running at 80hz as I’ll loose speed

When it does work it works great 😊

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP APPLE

I've got a fix!!! This was frustrating me to no end. Went to Apple store and talked with one of the experienced techs. He said the issue is the iPhone when you import from an old iPhone imports non-ideal network settings, not just your old iPhone passwords. Fix is below.

Network -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset Network Settings

Wifi has been working like a charm since I did this. Read about this for hours and never saw this suggested anywhere else so figured I'd contribute.

After trying everything else, I did this—all the while not understanding how it could possibly work (and I’m technical). Well, it worked. Set up a guest ssid on my Bell Home Hub and a matching guest ssid on my Linksys mesh and voila. Haven’t dropped a signal in 24 hours.

On the real network, I was dropping (and not reconnecting) every time I reached a junction between a mesh router’s coverage and the Home Hub coverage. It would keep the wifi signal but claim no internet. For WHATEVER reason, it does not do this for the guest meshed network. Baffling but thanks for the idea!!

I’m not sure if this is an issue im having in Uk? I have iPhone 15, it worked fine for a week. My phone updated to 17.0.3 and then I started having issues. What’s app wouldn’t work, kept saying connecting and nothing wouldn’t send or receive. Then my banking app wouldn’t work, kept saying I wasn’t connected to internet. I thought it was my wifi but the iPad and other devices are fine. It’s also doing the same thing outside the house, with the mobile data. It’s saying I’m connected but not showing a Wi-Fi icon. I have had several calls with apple and they can’t dectect whether it’s hardware or software. He thinks it’s something either with the new update version I have (Bug) or something in my apps themselves . My iPad has the same apps which are linked with same Apple ID and is wifi only and work fine???? He had me back up my phone to ITunes and reset the phone. Then start from scratch with the handset and NOT back up from iCloud. Sign into WiFi and see how phone works. He said by doing this it will put a new IOS 17.0.03 version and not the one already on my iCloud account. The phone worked fine. I installed banking app and WhatsApp. Both worked fine. I tried to get my stuff back onto my handset from iTunes, a disaster! I can’t do it, it’s saying I don’t have enough storage on my phone, I assume it’s trying to put my entire back up onto the phone, obviously that won’t all fit! I assume that the phone didn’t have all that stored on handset before - hence the cloud. Apple were no help at all.i thought I will try to start again and try back up from iCloud on the handset. I’m having same issues as before. I have no clue what the issue is at all! I’m back to using my iPad for anything other than calling because I can’t get anything else back on my phone! Any advice?

Actually, I tend to be one of THE most "unlucky" people alive. But don't misunderstand me. I too hate it when people tout a fix that works for them but doesn't help me solve an issue. So I really do feel your pain.

In my case, I upgraded from an old iPhone 7. Since WIFI transfer of my data failed, I used a cable to make a backup of the iPhone 7 on my 16" MBP M1 Max, and then I restored that backup on my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. That worked great. I then visited my local cell shop to get the contract switched from 4G to 5G, which is required by AU here in Japan. It then worked fine for about a day, and then I had WIFI issues. I found this thread and reported my experience. Not being satisfied, I Googled about RESETTING NETWORK SETTINGS and tried it. So far, after 24 hours, that has worked, but I won't be feeling fully satisfied for another week. It takes time to confirm if the problem is truly gone.

Apple needs to address this and here's why...

It doesn't matter if resetting Network Settings fixed it in my case. If my 81-year-old Dad had the same issue, there's no way he could have fixed it in that manner on his own. Apple is all about making complex tech easy "for the rest of us," so it behooves Apple to address these WIFI issues, for the sake of all iPhone users, in a future update.

I may have gotten it! I turned off "Passwords and Keychain" iCloud sharing and have not had an issue since. I noticed whenever my iPhone had issues I'd start having issues on my iPad and my iWatch wouldn't be connected. Can someone else try and confirm? I did "Reset Network Settings" after turning it off just so I was at a clean starting point on my iPhone and iPad. So I think, if you have multiple devices, turn it off on all of them (that you can) and reset them all, then see if issues persist.

Well I did what I swore I wouldn’t and had Bell upgrade my router. Had to upgrade my service level to get the new router but whatever. Absolute nonsense I had to do this just for consistent wifi in my house with one single phone (15 Pro Max) vs the 10+ Apple devices that worked fine. Apple continues to each out for logs (thanks Tracey!!) and I appreciate that but wow, no WAY we should need to do this for basic wifi connectivity.

@W1llee

If you still have the device you are moving from, this seems to have helped me:

  • Reset phone from a computer connection (will force a fresh download of the iOS)
  • Delete VPN config+apps and reset network stats on the old iPhone.
  • Connect to the network from the old iPhone, with no VPN or other config
  • Try to connect from the new iPhone

Seems like the issue is centered around networks where I have previously connected. This is currently working at my gym and workspace. Not sure about home network, yet.

Interesting. I have a 3rd generation iPad pro 11 inch and it cannot get wifi6E. My only compatible device with wifi6e is the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Once I toggled off that option on the phone, my speed was at least bearable. It is still slower, and I believe it could be doubled, so I'm troubleshooting further tomorrow. I'd recommend at least toggling wifi6e, as in my experience, this issue only showed up after I installed 17.03.

Example:

ios 17 before 17.03 speeds were 800MBPS (crazy fast) on a 1.2GBPS network with wifi6E enabled. Other support artcile I found helpful

ios 17.03 speed with wifi6e toggled off: 300mbps. Not bad at all, but I want to utilize the full functionality of the device.
