No iMessage notification sound after IOS 17.0.1 update on iPhone 13 Max

The same issue has been happening with me as well since updating. When is apple planning to implement a fix, this is a very huge issue. It is easy to miss important messages due to this issue and no updates that have come out have addressed this!

This shouldnt be a fix being that everyone doesnt want their messages displayed on their lock screen, especially being that you never had to do this in the past. Apple really needs to get this resolved as it is problematic.

Same thing happing, no audible alert that a message has been received, on both my iphone and ipad at IOS 17.0.3. My settings look ok but, as a matter of fact, I did not change my settings after updating to this level. Also, using Apple CarPlay I will get a notification of a message but it will not give me an opportunity for a voice reply unless I open messages on my screen and select the message that was just received … very unweildy while driving.

I think I'm going to become like most people and stop updating when Apple introduces a new iOS. Every time, without fail, there are some thorn-in-the-side issues like not being able to receive notifications when the phone is locked. For those of us who need the alerts, Apple makes life just a little more stressful by not fixing these bugs immediately.

My theory, as it has been since the iPhone 3GS, is that it's Apple's attempt at forcing people to upgrade to the latest generation. Wasn't there a Class Action against Apple for this very reason? And they LOST.

Me as well! Why is it that when a release is sent out does a huge global company like Apple does NOT fully test all possibilities that can go wrong with the new changes. Getting tired of the Apple bs and negligence. Out of the blue I lost 99% of sound alerts plus in addition my microphone to dictate to Siri is also NOT working. What do we do???

Same problem with 17.0.3 on iPhone 14 Pro, except mine is not making any text notifications tones at all, locked, unlocked, or in messages app. No text tones at all. I’m using the standard stock classic tones too. Checked all the “fixes” everyone has suggested, and none work. I restart my phone daily, and still no text notification tones. Would be super helpful if Apple would at least acknowledge that this is a problem and then maybe prioritize finding a fix.

I just downloaded the newest software 17.0.1 and on my my iPhone 11 max pro when I to text messages and try to do and audio message for a friend with the new way and it doesn’t work. Is this because my phone is outdated ?

Didn’t Work for me….running 17.0.3…Texttone-Mail and Third Party Default Sound Notifications are Too Quiet…and that’s at MAX Volume!…the new Rebound Sound is extremely HARD to Hear…also Some of my Notifications aren’t even Sounding on Occasions…

Of course i am here to complain about the same issue everyone else is having ! Wish Apple would just simplify this stuff and put it all in one place... This has gotten WAY beyond annoying. I am hard of hearing as it is.... this just made it .... nevermind im not going to say it. You know where it was going. Guess i wont be updating my OS anymore right away. learned the hard way. CMON APPLE you are slacking ! (well Verizon is slacking also now... phone reception has gotten bad as well. Seems few places i go now i get great reception,problem is i need it where im normally at. )

My call with Tech Support today has lasted over an hour already. No solutions so far. They put me through to a supervisor. So much time wasted.... The second person is still working on this looking stuff up.

How is this possible that a phone can't perform a basic function??

The only solution I know of is taking a hard line on no more apple products.

I am not seeing any errors when wearing the Apple Watch -

are you saying you’re not getting an alert at all on your watch when you are wearing it

are calls ringing both your watch and phone at the same time?

I know you might not like this, but have you tried unpairing your watch, follow my steps to fix the sounds issues for phone

Yes, in the past, text tones had the choice of choosing ringtones as text tones. It's been the text tone from my wife for years. Maybe the feature ended long ago and remained until I changed it.

It's good to know I'm not the only one having this issue. It's been going on even before I updated to iOS 17. If not for my Apple Watch ticking, I wouldn't even know I have a new text without looking at my phone. It's very annoying.

NONE of these "fixes" (turning off Watch; turning off notifications and turning back on, etc.) work. There is an underlying iOS issue here.

Bonus points for Apple: trying to post this via my iPad I keep getting an error “your post could not be saved…”.
