No iMessage notification sound after IOS 17.0.1 update on iPhone 13 Max

thanks. had tried numerous avenues, this did the (hopefully temporary - right) trick. the bluetooth definitely screws with the notifications, whether enabled on the ios or mac os device. tested both as you, disabling on one or the other, and sound notification works on my iphone. good enough for now. my workflow is somewhat back on track - minimalist notifications (typically just temp banner and notification center) on mac devices, sound enabled on phone.

Same with me. This is what is happening. It must be a new thing with the watch because it never used to be that way. I want to hear it from my phone not my watch. If I turn my watch off or take it off my wrist, then all notifications go through my phone and play a sound. But the minute I put my watch back on it will notify me on my watch, but not on my phone, at least not with any sounds. The watch will make a noise, but the phone remains silent even if I have the ringer on.

A lot of people are having this issue, but solutions seem to vary. If you have an Apple Watch, it affects how notifications come through. If you don't use the watch, experiment with turning Bluetooth off.

<<Talked to a Senior Adviser, he had me go into sounds/haptics and run the volume bar up and down three times, turn off notifications in messages, shutdown, restart, turn on notifications in messages. Hard to figure but this fixed the problem of no sounds for text messages. Phone call sound was working but not texts. Fixed for me, hope this may help others.>>

The latest update 17.1 that was just released seems to have addressed and fixed the issue.

I think it related to the Apple Watch. I turned the watch off and sound notifications now come through when locked. This needs to be fixed. Thanks Jason_707

I completely powered down my watch and the alerts started working again, so I think you're on to something

Updating to 17.1.1 solved my problems. I no longer have to turn Bluetooth off to receive notification sounds while the screen is locked.

Ok guys and gals. I found a solution. Go i to your watch app on your phone and turn off notifications. Everything notifies on your phone now.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I was having the same issue with my phone. I went to my watch app and turned off where I have my watch to mimic my phone and now I’m getting all my text messages

iPhone not providing text tone when messages were received. Followed the advise of one in the community. Turned Bluetooth off on my Ida’s p iPad and the text tone’s stated working.

I had the same problem with my 14Pro after updating. I followed someone else’s instructions and went to

Settings

Notifications

Messages

and despite mine already turned on, I then turned ON

Notification Center, just below Alerts.

I am again receiving audible notifications when I receive texts.

I had called Apple Support before this. They are aware of the problem and apparently working on a solution. They did not provide any temporary fix info.
