No iMessage notification sound after IOS 17.0.1 update on iPhone 13 Max

Experiment with turning off Bluetooth (on affected phone and/or other devices). Closest I've come to a fix.

My fiancé has the same issue. Only happened with the 17.0 update. So he did the next update and it still doesn’t work. He tried everything to fix the issue and it still won’t work. Apple needs to look into this.

Same thing here. Everything is on including obvious things like the toggle switch. No ring or vibration for texts. Sound and vibration work for calls just not texts. That said, my google voice app still alerts me normally so it’s definitely an issue with the new software. Cmon apple!

The only thing that’s worked for me was turning on the banner. Which I told Apple support I didn’t have to do that with the other software and they basically said I understand and Apple will continue to resolve the issue. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No Sound for incoming MESSAGES and IPHONE CALLS. This is devastating. iPhone 15, sometimes (10% of the time) I will get sound but its while its unlocked and I'm using it so I see the notification. Mostly, I don't. I need SOUND when I'm NOT using the iPhone 15. These never sound. I cannot tell you how many important calls and messages I missed. Just had surgery and these calls were imperative. Tech support had me jump through hoops which took days to tweak my iPhone apps back to what they were. Reset settings, Erase and reset. In between, they ran diagnostics and my hardware is fine. Just seeing this thread proves its a software problem and we shouldn't have to go through all this troubleshooting taking hours on the customer's part. My new iPhone warranty expires in days and still can't use a $950 iPhone 15 for incoming calls and texts, primary communication. Identify it is a stoftware problem and will be addressed SOON. Don't just keep putting customers off until the warranty expires.

The only thing, all this time my Apple Watch (under my Apple ID but linked to another iPhone 12 Pro Max) were discharged and off. Yesterday I charged my watch and turned it on. And suddenly today I received sms with sound!

So now my iPhone pro max 15 on iOS 17.1.1 plays sms sound on locked screen normally, I tested several times. Bluetooth is on.

And the only thing I can mark was that I charged and turned on my Apple Watch (paired with another iPhone)

My iphone12 pro max ios 17.1.1 Seems to be okay after turning on Sound Haptics and turning All notification banners on on selected apps …but the nagging bug I have is on my IPad Pro 11” 2022 iOS 17.1.1 …the Sound Notifications on the third party default “rebound” alert and the text tone and mail Sound are Sooo dang quiet on max volume …hard to hear …I have called Apple several times and I hope they are correcting All notification Sound problems on upcoming iOS 17.2 update…

I confirm observing the very same. Additionally, it looks like I get sounds back on if I restart the device.

Not a fix, but maybe a hint at what’s happening: something with DND overnight not correctly being deactivated according to schedule?

This predates 17.0 for me: it started on my SE by at least 2022, in my case probably 15.x, and has carried over to the new 13 Mini -- despite numerous resets, online support chats, and two trips to the Genius Bar (the nearest being 250 miles away). Ironically, I am now waiting for a call from an Apple supervisor, but may or may not hear the phone ring when it happens.

A problem in my world for over two years on two separate phones. (I wonder how many new iPhones get sold for how many reasons after some tech says "an upgrade should fix it...") Turning off Bluetooth fixes mine <<sometimes>> but...not today, apparently. Just missed several messages from family.

Should we have to choose between alerts and Bluetooth?

That may have helped me, too. But I also reset my settings, and everything works a bit better. I too have a 14 promax

I just got off the phone with Apple Support and they are aware of the problem and it should be fixed soon. 😳

I was on with support for over an hour. They logged all reports and diagnostics. I have a 13ProMax. No matter how I configure message notifications I continue to receive no sound or vibration with iPhone in locked or unlocked state.

Mine does the same thing when I talked to a senior manager they said if I want my sound to work I had to have it come up on my screen never had that happened before I don’t like it wish they would fix it I hate having to look at my phone to see if I got a text message they need to get there sh$t together and get this fixed
