No iMessage notification sound after IOS 17.0.1 update on iPhone 13 Max

Same Here with IPad Pro 11” 2022 ios 17.0.3 new device …no text tone…and a very low volume mail sound…text tone low in the text tone sound selections also…. and it is missing sounds like the old car horn that I have on my iPhone12 pro max updated this iphone12 pro max to iOS 17.0.3 and still have old horn sound for text tone but if you look for another sound the old car horn will disappear from text tone as it did with my iPad Pro….ringtone seems to be working fine volume/ selection and all…not sure about the other sound categories though….i hope a fix is coming as I need the notification sounds….

17.0.3 ….Texttone-Mail-and Third Party Default Notification Sounds are All Too Quiet…Can’t Hear!!!….and this is at MAX Volume… Volume Wise the Rebound Sound is Terrible ….also some Sound Notifications aren’t even Sounding….

my IPhone 15 pro max does the same issue. I even went to apple store and get my phone reset as new, installed new software and updates. I even called the apple support and they did remote viewing on my phone, but still did not fix the issue. my Iphone 13 never had that problem before i switched to iphone 15.

This issue is very frustrating issue every time I call apple support they say to turn on “previews” to always for my messages but that’s not the problem here. It’s my notification sound when my device is lock when it’s unlocked everything is fine. I’m not sure what to do anymore

Another update 17.1.2 and same old problem since 17. No sounds for phone, texts or voicemails. I’m on a 12.

Software update needed. Missing calls!

Texts! Voicemails!

Put back the old ringtones too.

My problem is plain old inconsistency. Sometimes I get notified on both the watch with a vibration and the ring tone on the phone. That's how it was before the 17 update. Other times just the watch vibrates. Sometimes the phone rings with the right custom ring tone for a specific contact and other times it rings with the default ring tone instead of the contact. And sometimes I get no right or no watch vibration.

I can't find a specific pattern. I tested this with my hubby's iPhone with my phone both locked and unlocked. Right now it's working where my watch vibrates and the ring tone is correct.

I have a group text with several iPhone users. Some of these users are set to "silent" and other users in the group text have specific ring tones. When someone from the group sends a text, sometimes my phone vibrates. Other times only my phone vibrates. And most of the time, I'm not notified at all. This is inconsistent. I haven't found a pattern yet.

Before the update, the "silenced" texters stayed silent and the texters with the ring tone would work properly - I'd get notified on the phone and the watch.

It's screwy and it's a bug. Apple LOVES to play dumb and pretend they have a perfect product.

I'm not convinced Apple decided it was one or the other. Back in Oct someone reported that Apple was working on a fix. For me, it's inconsistent. Yesterday, my phone rang and my watch vibrated. Today? Missed an important call from an iPhone - no ring and no vibration on my watch. Now my Blink app isn't notifying me either - and it was yesterday.

This is a serious problem and none of us should have to turn off watch notifications to fix it.

I have the same problem on iPhone 13 iOS 17.2.1, but it has also been a problem on previous iOSs. In my case, I think it’s related to having iMessage on my iMac and Text Message Forwarding set up on the iPhone>Settings>Messages>Text Message Forwarding to my Mac. I get the sound alert on the Mac but not the phone. Also, whether the Mac is in Sleep mode or not. I read thru the Apple Forum comments and it shouldn’t be that convoluted settings wise. I get the screen notification on the phone but not the sound. On the Mac I get both. Sounds like an Apple problem to me. I believe my alert settings are correct on both devices.

I don't use an Apple Watch but in trying to resolve my own situation have seen posts suggesting that you may have to choose one device (phone or watch, not both) for notifications. Hope you find a fix!

I’m also having the same exact issues/problems. Very annoying! And cannot seem to get resolve from any of the “fixes” I find on line.

Same issues. Tech support has no idea how to fix this. This is so frustrating

I have the same problem on ios 17.0.1 > emergency on > sound selected > no sound when sms message.

Next time I will wait a month to update !!!

I am also having the exact issue and it is bothersome and can't find a way to change it. I want to go back to the old operating system!

Why do they have to change a bunch of setting in the phone to begin with. Makes you leary of updating, it's always something with every update.
