iOS 17 Messages -> Info: no longer displays Satellite map view

I’m also noticing that the “live” location feature does not appear to be working. It is not following the location of my contact when they are moving, as in a car.

This is pretty disapointing. Why would they take us back in time 10 yrs ? We need the satellite view back asap.

I wish I could go back to IOS 16. None of the ‘benefits’ of 17 are worth the loss of the satalite view.

If everyone will chat with the techs and enough people complain maybe they will bring it back!

I’m also having this problem. The live feature on my messages is super choppy, goes from “live” to “now”, holds them at that same spot for a while and when it wants to update the location it takes a bit to load.

I agree 100%. Same thing…. 3 teens… constantly on the go. Idk what some places they go are, or are around without the satellite view! Why would they do away with it in this update? About to cancel our Apple one subscription & get life 360! So frustrating!

True but taking away a convenience most parents use (because you can text and check location in one spot) is just not a good way to make people happy. Additions are good. But don’t take away obvious good things. Hopefully just a hiccup they will correct. Right? Apple?? Let us know!

I agree with many others on this post. I too track two teens and the satellite image is important to me while seeing where my kids are.

jusy got back from Europe and having this missing was a problem so moved to 360 as alternative

was this intended ?, a bug? Oversight? And is it going to be fixed on iOS or do I/we just move permanently to 360?

I agree. I just realized this now after updating my phone. I can’t tell exactly where someone is with it not in satellite view. I don’t want to have to go all the way to the find my iPhone app to the person to be able to view it in satellite mode. I can’t believe with all that’s going on in the world they would remove this feature. Insane.

Apple,,, can you please answer our concerns regarding this massive BUG! Many of us are parents and need to keep an eye or our children’s locations. You need to fix the satellite feature for messaging. Give us back what we have become accustomed to.

Apple, Apple, Apple…. I said the name 3 times. Now let a representative appear and tell us if your hearing this concern? I personally know many people that are pretty upset about it… enough so they asked me how they can go back to iOS 16. Lets just get this addressed please! We can’t add safety features and take away others.

I agree with other posters that it would be nice if Apple would add the satellite map back to message app location.

Thanks Apple for removing satellite map but the 3D option showing the little buildings is nice.
