iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

Same thing with the 2017 Honda civic and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’m honestly disappointed to see that Apple hasn’t addressed this yet. I love this phone but I love CarPlay more, and I might have to switch to something else if this isn’t resolved.

Greetings Everyone!

This is a solution that has worked for me. I own a 2022 Mazda CX-30 with the regular USB port for the Car-Play. I tried using various USB - USB-C cables and had all kinds of issues with CarPlay either disconnecting or not connecting at all, at times. So I went to BestBuy and purchased a (Female USB-C to Male USB adapter) and then used the Apple certified USB-C to USB-C cable and for the past 2 weeks, no issues at all. I attached a picture of the adapter for reference.

Problem Solved!!!

I bought a new iPhone 15 ProMax and had the same problem with CarPlay not working in my 2023 Mazda CX-5. I called Apple Support and spoke to several representatives who could not offer a successful solution. They told me it was a problem with Mazda. However, one Apple representative told me it was a problem with the iPhone 15 that Apple is aware of and to wait until they fix it.

I went to Staples and bought this charger- Belkin BOOSTCHARGE 3.3' USB A to USB C Power Cable, Male to Male, White (CAB002BT1MWH) for $12.99. And voila, CarPlay is working just fine! I didn't have to change my iPhone name, forget my car, or even reboot my iPhone.

I hope this helps others who need help with CarPlay not working with their iPhone 15. I was seriously going to return my phone tomorrow and get an iPhone 14 or even 13. Now I think I'll keep it.

Unfortunately, Peugeot doesn’t have that option. I have started car with phone attached and after engine started: no difference, it won’t work. It’s bad enough lashing out for a new iPhone which, in my case, isn’t now fit for purpose but, with no solution from Peugeot either, what am I now to do? Change the car or get a different brand of phone at more expense? I’m rapidly falling out of love with Apple over this and other app issues.

@MurseNike, I tried several cables on my 2020 Lexus NX 300 and followed the steps some of the users on this discussion board suggested, but nothing worked. Apple support recommended the lightning to USB adapter and I purchased it for $30, nada from that, returned it. Another Apple support rep suggested the Belkin Boost Proflex cable, didn’t work either.

I finally decided to purchase a wireless adapter (another expense for an already expensive device) that’s how I got Apple CarPlay to work. I was tired of receiving conflicting responses from Apple Support w/ no certainty of a solution, so I went wireless.

2021 Ram 1500

My truck has both USB-C and USB-A ports.

I found that when using the C port in my truck, CarPlay will turn on sometimes.

In the case where it doesn’t turn on, i just flip over the usb on the iPhone side and it works fine.

I used two different C cables and they both have the same issue. (the one included with the phone and a thunderbolt 4 cable)

When I use the A port in my truck, it won’t work at all, even when I flip the cable on the iPhone side.

My solution is to buy a wireless CarPlay adapter until Apple figures this out. I just ordered one from Amazon.

Thank you sooooooooooo much I have been trying to get my iPhone 15 to work with Mazda Car Play using the included Apple USB - USBc cable that cam with my phone thinking it would not be the issue. I took to the dealer and they could not figure out the issue, I upgraded the infotainment system to the current firmware and still no luck, the phone chares with the apple cable but Car Play does not see it. Went to Best buy and picked up the Charge and Sync cable and boom now sync'ing with Car Play.

Thanks again!

Just posted on the other Jeep Wrangler thread.

The $29 adapter arrived 30 minutes ago.... Sadly, the adapter does NOT fix the problem.

First attempt: Apple USB C to Lightning - adapter - USB C to iPhone 15 Pro. Achieved CarPlay connection. Turned engine off and restarted. Could not achieve CarPlay connection again in 3 attempts.

Second attempt: Apple USB A to Lightning - adapter - USB C to iPhone 15 Pro. Achieved CarPlay connection. Apple Tech Support called and 3 minutes into the call, CarPlay dropped. Could not reconnect to CarPlay.

Previously, my '22 Wrangler Rubicon 8.4" UConnect system had no problems (iPhone 14 Pro) with CarPlay and I made sure there are no UConnect updates. Everything is current.

Deltalpha,

You need to buy an adapter. Just changing out and using different cables will not work. Some claim that after just changing to a certain manufacturers cable that it works. It will for a short period until it starts acting up again. You need to purchase an adapter, a female USB-C to a male USB adapter specifically. You can buy them on amazon or Bestbuy. They are roughly $10 for a pack of 2. I have attached a picture for reference. Once you get this adapter, it will fix the issue. I've been using mine going on 4 weeks without issue. Once you have the adapter, you can use the Apple USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the iPhone. Good Luck!

Two cars for our family. 2018 Wrangler JL with a touchscreen out of 2021 wrangler. And then a new 2023 wrangler. Both have intermittent issues. Anker cables, apple type c cables both give issues. Pretty sure it’s software related. In the wrangler JL forum we have a nice 7 page thread trying to find the issue. The only thing I can come up with is the 15s are set to draw more power than the ports can handle in cars. So it doesn’t recognize it. Perhaps an issue also is the reverse charging feature too.
