iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

Sorry I tried to post this here but it ended up halfway through the 28 pages !!! Reproduced below.

“Have you checked to make sure your new phone doesnt have the same name as the last one you connected to your car? That was my issue- nothing to do with cables or Peugeot and sorted in 5 minutes by changing the name of my new phone ( Settings/About).”

New here and have been reading these posts since I have been having the same issue with my 2019 Ford F150. Vehicle doesn't support CarPlay via Bluetooth (USB wired connection required). All worked fine until I upgraded to the iPhone 15. To make the USB to USB-C connection I was trying the 4" adapters offered in the Apple Store. Immediately realized there was an issue as the CarPlay had worked flawlessly with my iPhone 14. No matter what I tried there was the continual intermittent drops of the connection. Fortunately I could stil play music via Bluetooth but no CarPlay. After reading a number of these posts I bellied up and bought the cable recommended in one of these posts (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0995G31PX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). Bingo - works perfectly. No interruptions of service at all.

I'm not sure that I'd place the blame on the iPhone itself. Looks to me like the issue is how the conversion from the Lightning to USB-C is handled. Clearly the Apple Lightning to USB-C adapters, even though they claim to support data transfers, don't work as designed in this application. In my case not sure if it is the connection between the original USB/Lightning cable and the adapter or the adapter to the phone connection or just the adapter itself. Matters not at this point. It's working now.

Got it working by using a usb A to usb C adapter from Amazon. None of the expensive usb a to usb c data cables worked, including the belkin I purchased at the Apple Store. Try a cheap adapter and use the cable supplied with the phone.

really frustraring and dumb that Apple has us scrambling to make it work without any guidance. I’ve been upgrading my phone every year, but this has my re-evaluating that practice. Better to just stick with what works, imo.

Deltalpha,

You need to buy an adapter. Just changing out and using different cables will not work. Some claim that after just changing to a certain manufacturers cable that it works. It will for a short period until it starts acting up again. You need to purchase an adapter, a female USB-C to a male USB adapter specifically. You can buy them on amazon or Bestbuy. They are roughly $10 for a pack of 2. I have attached a picture for reference. Once you get this adapter, it will fix the issue. I've been using mine going on 4 weeks without issue. Once you have the adapter, you can use the Apple USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the iPhone. Good Luck!

We tried everything also. Contacted Apple and a solution that worked for us is we had to have a song in Apple Music to get the radio to acknowledge media. We signed up for free trial and added a song to the playlist then went back to Spotify (that’s what we use for music) and everything worked!!! Apple told us to cancel the Apple Music and go and order and download a cheap song into Apple Music. As long as that one song is there your car will recognize all music that you have. It’s worth a try for you. You lose nothing. Once you do the free subscription and download a song you can cancel because your subscription will not cancel until the end of trial period. If this works for you then go order a cheap song to always have in your Apple music

Thank you sooooooooooo much I have been trying to get my iPhone 15 to work with Mazda Car Play using the included Apple USB - USBc cable that cam with my phone thinking it would not be the issue. I took to the dealer and they could not figure out the issue, I upgraded the infotainment system to the current firmware and still no luck, the phone chares with the apple cable but Car Play does not see it. Went to Best buy and picked up the Charge and Sync cable and boom now sync'ing with Car Play.

Thanks again!

I too was having issues with every cord I tried. I ordered 3 different belkin & anker cords plus adapters to try. I have a 2018 Acura tlx with a USB-A wired CarPlay connection. Once plugged in, it would make a sound like it was trying to connect over and over, but never connect. Finally what worked for me was removing the car connection from Bluetooth devices, turning the car off, then turning the car back on. Plugging in the phone with a USB-A to USB-C cord, and the car asked to connect the phone. It worked!

Anyone tried these steps?

Update to the latest version of iOS. Make sure that Siri is on Verify there is no case on the iPhone that might be causing interference, affecting how the Lightning cable seats, or that might be between the iPhone and stereo USB connection (e.g. a battery pack). Ensure CarPlay is not restricted in Settings > General > CarPlay as well as Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps. Forget the stereo from Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name]. Forget the iPhone from the settings (stereo user guide for instructions). Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name. Reset network settings on the iPhone. Test with a shorter Apple approved USB cable. Check if the has disabled Auto-Join for the network and toggle back on via Settings > Wi-Fi > Edit > [Wireless CarPlay SSID].

I’ve had the same issue with intermittent or no connectivity between my iPhone 15 Pro and 2018 Subaru. I

previously added a USB dongle to enable wireless connectivity in an unused port in the car which worked fine. I installed a USB-A to USB-C adapter and tried several cables, none of which enabled connectivity. When I disconnected the wireless dongle from the USB port and plugged in the iPhone, CarPlay connected right up. In this case it seems like the wireless adapter caused some interference. The name of the wireless dongle was a GarlinKit, bought on Amazon.
