iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

I just installed a new Pioneer DMH-466ONEX and set it up to connect to my phone wirelessly. The Apple carplay works except for the navigation apps. Routes have errors and I get crazy directions to make unneeded turns including unsafe U-turns. Crazy! I called Pioneer and they said that many of their head units are having trouble with iPhone 15. So, my problem isn't related to the USB connector because I am connecting by Bluetooth or W-Fi. Yes, the Pioneer unit has built in Wi-Fi. Not sure what to do next. But it seems like this is an Apple iOS problem.

Hi All,

I’ve followed the tips such as restoring my SYNC 3 back to factory settings, deleted all phones and reconnected just my own iPhone 15, toggled the airplane mode, purchased the adapter that Apple support suggested that I use, reinstated my $200 WiFi subscription for my truck ( just in case) updated to the latest SYNC3 by downloading the Ford update to a flash drive and successfully loaded to SYNC 3 system in my F150, and renamed my iPhone but my phone still keeps getting kicked off of my infotainment center. I tried my wife’s iPhone 14 and it works as it should..no glitches. I’ve reached the point of disappointment and have no more ideas. I’d really, really appreciate any feedback. Apple Support, although very pleasant to speak with, have not been very supportive in helping to resolve this issue. It breaks my heart to say but I’m seriously considering dropping Apple altogether and going to a Samsung should this not get resolved by this weekend. My 15 day satisfaction period is about to expire so I’m a bit desperate. Please help.

I have the same issue. Tried multiple cables. Even when it does disconnect from car play the phone still shows as charging. Maybe it’s a software issue ? Either way I am very disappointed with the phone and just want to get my money back for this pos.

I am going to see how to return the iPhone 15 pro max to get my money back and switch back to my previous iPhone.

I would have thought your basic connections would have been tested. I guess not! I was hoping with the new update it would have fixed the issue. Again I guess not.

Ok that’s awesome. A lot of work went into that and if you’ve got the iPhone Pro Max 15 then that phone must have cost about $3K. lol.

Simple truth to all of this is APPLE needs to put a few of their best code writers in a room for two weeks, feed them nothing but bags of chips (their choice of flavor) and cases of Monster or (from the old days) JOLT Cola and get this ridiculous problem Solved!!

My guess is when APPLE was forced to use a USB C input connector they forgot that USB C needs more POWER to run its peripheral gear than The old Lightning Connector.

This is an update on my situation. I have an iPhone 15 ProMax and a Pioneer DMH-4660NEX receiver. I had been able to connect Carplay to the Pioneer receiver, but the navigation apps did not work well (bad directions, unnecessary turn, inaccurate locations etc). After talking to Pioneer and Apple, each blamed the other and had no solutions. I finally figured out that the 3d calibration setting on the receiver had to be reset. This is not mentioned in any of the Pioneer literature. I found this advice on a random blog post. Now the navigation works fine, both on Waze and Apple Maps. What a relief!

Now the issue I have is a smaller one. The phone will connect Apple carplay every time with an Apple cable to the receiver. It will connect sometimes wirelessly but not always. I have reset all the Bluetooth setting and WiFi setting many times and the problem still persists. I can' figure it out. One odd thing I have noticed is that the Pioneer has two different Bluetooth channels that show up on my phone. Sometimes one works and other time, the second one works. Anybody noticed this or have any idea why one receiver would broadcast two different Bluetooth channels? Thanks, Brian

My iPhone 15 Pro is also facing the same issue, unable to connect to CarPlay via a USB-A to USB-C cable. Even charging through the car's power outlet doesn't work for my phone. Despite displaying that it's charging, no power actually gets into the phone. I've attempted using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to resolve this, but the outcome remains unchanged. As an Uber driver, I'm now limited to working for very short time before my phone completely runs out of battery. I can't even risk playing music. By the way, my car is 2020 Accord EX-L
