iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

Dear W_A_M_O,

if you go back to page 17 of this entire thread you’ll see my post. But to save you the trouble here it is again. Let me know if this helps you like it helped me.

“I had the same issue with CarPlay not working with my new iPhone 15. I tried a few cables, no changes. I own a Chevy Impala 2018 and I got the idea to reset CarPlay in my Car’s Menu system. Since then I don’t care what cable it is, they ALL work and CarPlay works just fine. Try resetting your CarPlay in your car’s menu system.”

Hello, I had the same wired Carplay-Iphone15 problem. By chance I found a cable that works. After all, it's been 6t weeks in a row now. (Alpine ILC 702d with iPhone 15Pro) All previous iPhones with USB A had no problem.

In Germany you can get USB-A to USB-C cables in Swedish furniture stores. Quite inexpensive. Please make sure that it is the cable with number 2333 type E2024 and not the cable with number 2232 type E2033. And I assume that both are also data cables, since they transmit them perfectly on the PC.

I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy. I finally tried the USB to USB C Cable Fast Charging 3ft, 2Pack Coiled USB C Charger Cable for Car, Android Auto USB Type C Charger Cord, USB-C Cable Compatible with Samsung Galaxy A10e A20 A50 A51 A71 S20 S10-Red that I got on Amzn and IT WORKS, even though it does not say that it is iPhone compatible. I then tried my other connecting USB cable again and it does not work. Get this cable!

I found a way that works for me.. I ended up buying a 5.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter to avoid buying any more cables to fix APPLES issue. The link is below. Works create it was very easy to setup and every time I get in the car it does exactly what apple does not, it connects car play. told a few other people experiencing the same issue and it has worked perfect for them as well and also no plugging the phone in. you have to dish out some more money but, serves as a lesson dont pay apply products under the customers had a chance to QA it first.

Okay I’m like you. I bought 5 different cables and none worked. Finally called the dealer and they fixed it. They rebooted it and disconnected the phone in the car then did all kinds of pairing. Anyway I couldn’t tell you everything else but it can be fixed and that’s what important. Call the dealer and the service center should be able to help

I spent the weekend visiting AT&T store where I bought the phone a month ago, two different Apple authorized service centers, and finally the Apple store. As i explained to them, the phone will not connect for more than 30 seconds to CarPlay - in my car, in my sons car, in my neighbors car, regardless of what cables I use (including Apple brand cables). Yet everyone else's phones work just fine in all cars using all cables. I notice on some cable connectors, the tip is very slightly longer and will insert deeper into the phone than others. This does seem to help, but it's still not a stable connection. Move the phone and poof - CarPlay is gone. One of the techs said he finds customers with this issue often, so even if they replace the phone, it's a crap shoot whether you will get one that is good or not. Very reassuring !! In short - it's a "known issue".

The Apple techs did a diagnostic on the connector and internals - nothing was found. I would have sworn the connector itself was the issue, either loose or misaligned. To my dismay - nothing was found. SO the only thing they suggested was a total reset of the phone, removing everything and starting from scratch...NOT a restore from iCloud, because they believe there is a software glitch somewhere so it has to be a total reset. And then spend considerable effort trying to get all my apps back - from scratch. No guarantees this will work, but it's all they could suggest. Im not going to do that. If I move the phone and lose a connection - that is not indicative of a software glitch...it's hardware. Period.

I got one of those dongles that connects your phone to CarPlay wirelessly. That eliminates the connection issue. It works fine but doesn't charge at the same time.

I found a solution: After trying high quality cords and adapters along with the apple cord, nothing was working. I saw a post on Mac Rumors about this issue. One of the fixes suggested was turning off your VPN before you start the car. It worked. I know it sounds like VPN would be completely unrelated to issues with USB connected Apple CarPlay, but it worked. I turned off my VPN before getting into the car and it worked.

Might not be the fix for everyone but it worked for me.. as weird as that sounds. Hope this helps some of you because this issue is extremely frustrating.
