2019 BMW, iPhone 15 Pro Max
This is the exact Anker USB-A to USB-C cable that I also bought, and mine WORKS too. It didn't work at first, which is how I wound up on this thread.

To get it working, I had to start fresh by deleting ALL of the phones from my car. (My wife's phone was in there too). I figured, let's start as fresh as possible.
Then I paired my iPhone 15 to the car via the USB cable. But it didn't work at first.
And this is the part that I bet many people are skipping, I had to DELETE my iPhone from the car and go through the pairing process MULTIPLE TIMES before it started working. Something must have changed after I went through the delete / pairing procedure about 4 or 5 times. I unfortunately don't recall the sequence of events, but I rebooted my phone at one point, and may have started and stopped my car. I was trying to get to a "clean slate" so to speak. Finally, after several attempts it connected to CarPlay.
I used it with the USB cable for a few days, and then it just started working via Bluetooth one day when I started my car and hadn't plugged in the USB cable yet.
So, in my situation, it shows that the hardware WILL work, but there must be something wrong with the pairing process that's screwing things up for a lot of people.
The other thing that I'm noticing is that it connects faster than my iPhone 11 Pro did.
