DO NOT hold the button.

The flat oval side button has 3 modes.

• Quick press and release, brings up the Control Center, with the iPhone ping icon.
• 2 quick press and releases, brings up the Apple Wallet.
• Press and hold, brings up the Emergency calling display.

When I open the control screen I see a phone icon but when I press it it doesn’t ping my phone. Instead it brings up:

Pushing the side button does not work only apps pop up I have to press and hold and ask Siri for the control center. This is absolutely ridiculous
