iPhone Keyboard Lag after iOS 17 Update

It’s not a keyboard “lag”, the keyboard is just downright broken. This is such a major, glaring, bug! Apple needs to get their act together, this is a core feature that’s broken.

i have it(the lag) everywhere.

Tried everything suggested. The lag persist with 17.2.1. Help! Please! And happy New Year.

I disabled the predictions and reset the keyboard dictionary and it solved the issue. Hope it helps.

Issue occurs when having "only" 2 keyboards added to keyboards list. Try adding a 3rd keyboard and lag should not happen anymore.

Fixed it for me.

Still on 17.2 version the problem persists and it’s behaving like an android phone. Very frustrating and annoying , never expected to have this type of experience with a iPhone.

Nope. I have the same issue on an iPhone 15 pro. So it’s not just the older phones

So first post is form Sep 29, 2023 and now we have Mar 19, 2024 and it's stil not fixed... Well done apple. Lowercase on purpose.

After iOS 17.4.1 update I still have the same problem. Restart the iPhone helps temporarily.

iPhone 13 Pro max

Got the same problem on 2 different Phones.

My iPhone 13 Pro had this issue right after updating to iOS17. No matter which version, it was there till I sold it.

My new iPhone 15 has the same problem and it really frustrates me.

I paid over 1000€ for my new phone for getting lags like this.

Resetting the keyboard did not help and I’m also just using 1 Keyboard(German).

I shouldn’t have to turn off anything I had enabled in iOS 16 to get the same user experience in iOS 17 on a brand new iPhone 15 Pro.

My wife just got an iPhone 14 pro and is experiencing the exact same thing. It’s 100% iOS 17 that needs to be fixed.

Autocorrect has gotten worse for me, leaving terrible spellings resulting from the lag or change in algorithm that determines which key you’re pressing. It’s also become absolutely shocking with contractions, not spotting that words need contractions ever…

Same here. 17.0.3. iPhone 12 Max Pro.

I've reseted the keyboard settings, removed all the languages, kept only my native one, disabled predictive and that setting to swipe to write, basically i'm using a keyboard from 2002. Still there are moments when it's laggy.

I just gave up, I'm on a Gboard right now, working flawless, even tho, this keyboard hasn't seen any update in more than a year on App Store.

It's unbelievable for me that Gboard and SwiftKey are working perfectly on iOS, with tons of features, and the internal keyboard it's just rubbish. If I was a manager on the keyboard dept on Apple, I would have just deleted the whole project and start from scratch. It's all bad.

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and despite having updated to iOS 17.1 I still have the annoying keyboard lag. Do any of you have the same problem as me? Were you able to solve it?

I can't solve it even if I use third-party keyboards.
