iPhone Keyboard Lag after iOS 17 Update

Same problem here on iPhone 13 Pro Max since iOS 17 Update.

Currently on 17.0.3 and it’s still delayed and laggy. Especially when typing more than one sentence. Happens in every app (Notes, iMessage, WhatsApp, etc.). Using the German and English keyboard - both are delayed and laggy.

It‘s a really unpleasant experience since I need to type a lot on my phone. Probably switching to Google Pixel since it’s really limiting the workflow.

Same thing. I chatted in with an Apple rep and we went through the steps to resolve it. They tried to tell me it was a hardware issue when this started with IOS 17. I even grabbed a screen recording of the issue where my cursor will revert back after I move it. Apple needs to fix this sw update as it’s tied directly to that.

So, now I’m on iOS 17.3. Been having this problem since 17.0.

The issue is the same.

Enormous lag. Doesn’t matter if I type or use swype. Sometimes it takes up to 3 seconds to come back to real time. Curious thing is that it registeres the typing even when it seems stuck.

The number of words in the predictive text is insufficient and the algorithm could be better and predicting the words.

My nexus 4 from a lot of years ago with its google keyboard did a far better job, even close to perfection than this iOS 17 keyboard.

I’ve read that someone found a workaround by using three different keyboards. Did’t work for me.

It happens randomly and in different applications.

I will try Google keyword and come back here with an update. I’ve had enough with this bug.

To everyone who has this issue, go to apple feedback page and write it. The more they know our problems the faster the problem is solved.

No one from Apple will see your request. This is a user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't participate.

Something is causing keyboard lag on your iPhone, but this is most certainly not an issue affecting everyone. I have no lag on our iPhone 15 Pro Max or 15 Pro. No one I know personally with an iPhone seems to have any keyboard lag.

Not sure if this helps... on my iPad Pro, the oldest one, the problem went away and came back. Switching off auto complete worked for about a month and now it's playing up again...

but... I noticed it was only happening in the YouTube app.

iOS 17.1 will solve the issue

The only advised solution I keep seeing is to reset your device, it’s ridiculous that apple can’t update iOS without messing something up…

Thousands of people experiencing issues with such basic thing as keyboard and nothing has being said or done so far. What a great example of caring about loyal customers haha

Apple has a forum where the people can comment and discuss some topics about what is going on with some of their products, but I guess nobody from the company sees this. Since the issue persist, I would say 3 months already? Maybe 4?

I guess you're not aware of what this forum is. It's a user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't monitor for user comments, nor participate in at all.

You need to let Apple know you're having an issue with your keyboard (something I have absolutely no issue with on either our iPhone 15 Pro Max or 15 Pro, btw), by sending feedback here --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I am experiencing the same problem and any tip posted by the specialists here is NOT working at all. The problem is still here after 3 updates.

Not much time so gotta make it short: this is unacceptable. Typing any form of message/mail etc. becomes a total farce and I expect a lot more of apple regarding problem solving.

Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Only one keyboard active and still the same issue. Also tried different ones (English only, German, etc.)

Disabling predictive also didn’t change anything. For some it works, as I heard.

Anyways, I appreciate your advice!
