SG*OriginalPlus subscription charge? - Apple Pay Wallet

I received an emailed receipt for £29.99 from SG Original Plus for a subscription i never ordered. my current account was debited £29.99. the transaction appears in my apple pay wallet but I have no idea how it happened. Does anyone have any suggestions? Somehow, this company had my email address, and the receipt they sent me by email specified that I had purchased a subscription for one month - with a start and end date. I have no idea where this all came from. I didn't seek out this company - I have no interest or knowledge in or of them, and I never gave any personal details to them at all - or purchase instructions. However, according to the payment history in my Apple Wallet, I payed £29.99 to them at 12.59 on 5th Oct but I wasn't even using my phone at this time. What is going on?

hi, I am the original poster on this thread. Your experience maps mine (same company name etc). In fact, what I hadn’t realised was that I had received an email a week earlier confirming my free trial subscription for a week, so when I got charged £29.99 it was the start of the paid subscription. I emailed SG original and received a detailed reply insisting that I could only have been charged any money if I had supplied all the information myself. In other words- it’s all my fault. But I have no knowledge or memory of doing such a thing and have never sought their services ever. I will put their reply on this thread

I received this from Original Plus.

We hereby inform you that the user subscribed to our digital services OriginalPlus, a suite of products ranging including Movies, TV Shows, Gaming, Health & Fitness and Educational Programmes. The subscription took place when the customer manually inputted their email address together with their credit card details in order to complete the subscription process. Kindly be advised that without such action taken by the user a subscription to originalPlus would not be possible.

Furthermore, we would like to inform you that a subscription can not take place without prior user interaction, being that you have to enter your email address together with providing credit card details either manually or through an Apple Pay or Google Pay payment method in order to complete the subscription process.

Once this has been done, an email is sent to inform you that your subscription is now active. This will include reiterating the price after the free trial period, link to access the portal and how to contact us should you wish to do so.

Kind regards,

Contact your bank or card issuer and block the charge. Then try going to the originalplus.co website, and log in, and see if you can unsubscribe from their service. This is not related to Apple in any way shape or form.

Hi if this helps anyone.

i have just to access a cell tower map on a website. This lot present as a you have to register to access the site. They take your email address and ask for credit card or apple pay to do an active card check. Take and refund 50p

that signs you up to a 7 day free trial for something you never heard of and don't want which renews at £29.99 a week later.

you have to log into their website from the email you get to cancel it.

Read the entire thread. The helpful response is wrong, it has nothing to do with Apple.

This has happened to me today. I downloaded the Apcoa parking app last week, linked it to my Apple Pay and the discovered 50p was taken from my account. Initially thinking this was connected to paying for parking I didn’t give it much more thought until today when SG Original plus have taken £29.99 for a subscription to god knows what that I never wanted. A quick search for this company unveils hundreds of people have been scammed the same way, usually by downloading an app for things such as parking or restaurants eg. They have a trust pilot score of 1 and that’s because people can’t score 0!!

Apple is implicated very strongly in this SG*OriginalPlus saga.

No. They are not. They have nothing to with it. It's a scam as has been explained profusely in this thread. It is a third party subscription that has nothing to do with Apple. There is no link between Apple and these subscriptions. The "helpful" post is entirely wrong. It's bad that there's no way to remove it.

Let me give you an analogy. If you go into a bank and someone comes up to you and robs you, the bank won’t say to you “it’s nothing to do with us. We have no link with the mugger”.

Yes, of course that's what the bank would say. They would most likely cooperate with law enforcement and provide them with any information they had but no, it really has nothing to do with the bank.

I too tried to pay via an app for parking and was something like APOCA it said there was a 50 p charge to subscribe so I could pay for parking in Wales but the App didn’t work and so paid cash instead at the machine.

That was a week ago and today saw the £29:99 charge and an email , so contacted card issuer and blocked my card linked to Apple Pay and also got the pending payment stopped, took around 20 minutes on the phone to the fraud department of my card issuer. This seems like a sharp practice to catch people out😡
