iPhone 15 Pro Can’t Scan lottery tickets yet my iPhone 8 can

I use the Illinois lottery scanner I went from a Xpromax to 15 pro max I used to turn scanner on move tickets close to fill scanner window then it would scan. I called Apple because it wasn’t working like this they said it was app responsibility to work with new phone (QR was working with phone) . You can use two fingers on camera to zoom in and out so tried this with scanner in lottery app and this worked. Feel kinda stupid for not trying this first but always moved ticket closer before to scan QR . I hope this helps and saves Apple some work answering dumb questions like mine : )

Have found it is a focus problem. Move the camera much father away then you did with your old phone and it should work. Have had problems with both lottery tickets and scan codes at the supermarket but distance seems to make it work. Have to say I 15 Pro Max has not impressed me!

After opening a ticket with the local lottery corp, they admitted it’s an app issue where the app selects the wrong camera on new iPhones, and they have been “working on a fix” for over a year. TLDR, devs admit it’s broken and they don’t know how to fix it.

I have also struggled with iPhone 15 scanning Missouri lottery tickets, and it was even worse after one of the recent updates. I messed around with the camera settings randomly, and I can now scan after many months of frustration. Under settings- camera, I have all the buttons on except for the “use volume up for burst.” Under “preserve,” it takes you to a second page and I have everything on except action mode. Under photographic style I have it set to default 24mm -1x, and the buttons for 28mm and 35mm are on. I don’t know why it works now so I’m simply relaying all of the settings as of today when it started working after I changed settings.

My i-phone 15 overexposes and is unable to read wa lottery ticket - basically a white-out. Found if one of top two lenses is covered a normal exposure and ability to read ticket is possible.

@ greeneyedcarol. I had the same problem with my iPhone 15 pro max , QR scan camera in the UK lottery app was just a bright screen, changed ProRAW to on and problem resolved immediately, Genius!! thank you :)

I don’t know about the CA lottery app, but I finally got my iPhone 15 Pro Max to work with the GA lottery app. When I opened the Scan Barcode, I used two fingers to zoom the lens, and moved the ticket slowly out to focus, and it scanned. Unfortunately the ticket was not a winner.🙁

Let the barcode focus from a distance then zoom in slowly with your fingers, that’s how I get mine to scan the tickets. I am using the iPhone 15 pro

I had the same problem. in camera settings i turned everything on in preserve settings and tried it.. it worked when i had the phone about a foot away, i kept doing this and it worked everytime

Apparently it started happening with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. There are a lot of reviews regarding the same problem since the 14 came out. Quite a few videos on you tube for various state and national lottery apps. All videos are recommending the exact same steps. None worked for me. I'm hoping someone comes up with a work around. Not all the lottery apps have the ability to do the two-finger zoom and they don't appear inclined to update their apps to work with the newer phones.

I came here looking for a fix and noticed someone saying something about a micro lens. I have no clue what that is but I held my phone about 6-8 inches from the ticket then tap the bar code on my screen and that seemed to work. Good luck
