Auto macro mode issue

Sometimes (more often than I would like) the auto macro mode turns on if I try to take a photo with a telephoto lens at a long distance in poor lighting. This is very annoying because I don’t want to turn off auto macro completely, but after temporarily turning off the flower icon the camera cannot focus on its own. Does anyone have the same problem? iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17.0.3
