I would disable the rise and wake function in settings, until they come out with a fix for it.

Same. Piece of junk. Plug it into a computer, that seemed to make it work for me

That’s ridiculous. I charge mine overnight all the time. Is your Raise and Feature disabled? Mine stopped doing this once I did that.

Same issue 2 of the last 7 nights. Switching from a USB charger to wireless charger for a minute seems to turn the screen on.

Same thing happened to my wife's new iPhone 15 Pro which she just set up this past weekend. Brand new phone, all updates applied automatically to new phone when transferring data from her old phone, and utilizing an Apple-branded magsafe charger while charging at night. Her phone wasn't responsive this morning but eventually the screen turned back on after being detached from the charger.

Hopefully a software update is going to resolve this...

I got my new iPhone 15pro in sept and this has happened to me at least 4 times… always while I’m charging! Apple needs to fix this issue! I’m really frustrated! 😞

quick fix- tap volume up, tap volume down, then press and hold right side button until you see apple logo! Or if you can manage to unlock your phone Siri will restart it for you! Hope this helps and apple can fix this mess!

I own an iPhone 15 Pro and got it just a couple of weeks ago. I awoke to the same black screen y’all are referring to after charging through the night. I’ve reported the issue to Apple to add my voice and try to petition them to update with a fix. In the meantime, I’ll turn off my wake function.

Is it the “Raise and Wake” feature? I disabled mine a couple weeks ago when it did this, and it hasn’t done it since. Although, it had never done it before then either. So is it this or the IOS? Seems like it was happening prior to the previous update.

it happened to me too, i wake up with a black screen on my phone after charging all night on my nightstand. I can feel that still working, but with a black screen. I press the shutdown bottom, and other button trying to resetting, it called 911 and like someone above i could even hang up. I told my husband to call, send text to see if that will make the trick. Finally it came to light again, but today did the same thing again. This time it was on a wireless charger. I pressed the up sound bottom, down sound and side bottom, after 3 minutes it call back, so this is not a problem of the charger, cable… since it did it twice on a different forms of charging. I’m pretty sure this is a software issue, it just started after i downloaded the new IOS. Very frustrating to start the day like that on a phone that does not have more than 6 months.

Happened to me while traveling in Cairns, Australia. I bought a USB-C charger in Australia by Cygnett which worked fine until I plugged it into one particular plug and it was either charged or 80%+ charged. Suddenly went black and luckily the hot spot still worked so i could use my laptop to troubleshoot with no internet. Otherwise I'd be SOL.

I just had this too. Along with the wifi issues and the black screen of death -- the iPhone 15 Pro Max is easily the buggiest iPhone I've ever had and I've owned iPhones since the 3G.

Wirelessly charge overnight -> black screen of death -> alarm goes off in the morning -> panic that I am late to work because I can't tell what time it is -> hard reset the phone (tap up then down volume buttons, then hold far right button) -> phone turns on and works with 100% battery.

I only had my iPhone 15 pro for 3 days when I got the black screen. It happened whilst charging overnight. The haptics were working but I couldn’t see anything. I eventually did a forced restart & it came back. My digital clock was very faded on the front screen though & didn’t look right so I restarted again & it came back normal.

This has since happened a further 3 times! I’ve changed the charger to see if it was that. The last couple times the force restart isn’t even happening properly. It just stays black then 10/15 minutes later the screen just randomly comes back. There’s no apple logo showing me it’s shutting down or restarting or anything. I’ve had this phone less than a month & it’s up to date with software updates. This shouldn’t be happening with a brand new phone!

I’m now thinking I need to return it as it’s clearly faulty.

This just happened while corded charging with IIOS 17.1 running. I used my 65-watt charger when it happened.

Mythbusting the magsafe theory, but hopefully, that can help move one step closer to a reason and ultimate fix.

17.2 is out, updating now - hoping it is fixed.
