iPhone 15 Pro Max black screen

ok I just had this happen to my iPhone 15 Pro Max this morning and holy cow the panic that settled in.

My phone was charging vertically at night on a wireless charger that I have been using since the iPhone 12 Pro with out any issues. This morning when I got a phone call the screen was dark and I couldn't pick I had to rush and use my MacBook to pick the call while I troubleshoot my phone. Apple please fix this because a wired charger is not an option during meeting or work video calls.

Fortunately I was within my carrier’s 30 day window to my return my iPhone 15 Pro Max once and for all! Good riddance to this piece of garbage! 😃 Today I restored my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s back to everything working fine! 😃 So happy made this decision!

Same here. In my new 15 ProMax. My alarm went off and when I picked up the phone there was no screen. All black. I thought it must have been a flat battery but it was on the charger all night. Then I realised the phone and text was still working ok. I made a call to work through Siri. It came back automatically an hour later.

had similar experience however realised it didn’t had to be on charge to occur, was watching videos on tiktok the screen just went off after i slide up for the next video leaving the audio playing. :’)

Yes - I am having the same problem, although less often than you, it seems. The first time was really shocking, but now that I know that trick I am less worried - short press up button, short press down button, then hold on/off until the Apple appears…

However, I wonder if this is indicative of deeper problems. I hope Apple can fix it. I thought that 17.1.1 was intended to fix it, but it hasn’t…

iv had the 15pro max just 3 days

it happens when I charge over night with the apple charger usb-c

the only thing that works is Siri but then no screen.

I then played with the buttons on the side till eventually it just appeared 🤷‍♀️ no idea why.

This just happened to me this morning for the first time. My alarm was going off for work and the screen would not turn on. I used the side button to silence the alarm. My phone even called a Emergancy SOS 🥹😅. Sounds and buttons were working but the screen was all black. I use the MagSafe charging dock and have had my iPhone 15 pro max for a month. The force reset made it come back on but I hope this gets fixed soon. I have never had an iPhone do this before. I was freaking out 🥲.

Was freaked out beyond words when I woke up at 3am and my phone wouldn’t wake up since I have surgery this morning and need it for directions and phone numbers and other information. This wasn’t a good way to wake up this morning. Yes my phone was charging also and when I unplugged it, it came on after a few minutes which seemed like forever. iPhone 15 pro max new 🤦‍♀️😭

Having the exact same issue, except I can't turn my screen on at all. It rings, vibrates and sounds can be heard but the screen will not wake up. I try to restart or turn the phone back on but then my phone starts to go crazy and make emergency alarm sounds. My phone has been off the charger now for about an hour and still hasn't turned on.

Mine has done the same thing. I have had to use Siri to restart the phone. Just seems to happen when on charge without use for a few hours. I can charge during the day fine but I am still using it even 30 minutes or so.

I am also dealing with the same issue. In my case, I tried pressing all the buttons (volume up/down, power, or the new action button), but nothing work for me. I think the issue might be related to the Standby feature since both the occurrences of issue happened at night. The first time it happened, not sure how the display came back on. On the second occurrence, I just put the phone away and it came back on in the morning by itself. This has to be fixed.

Hi all! I buy a new iphone 15 pro. When transferring data to a new phone and updating to 17.1.1, the screen turned out black. I hear that it is working, a screenshot, the sound of charging. Hard reset doesn't help. Switching to DFU mode and then restoring does not help. Who has encountered this? Thank you.

Update… After having this happen once after overnight charging I went to the settings to disable the “wake and rise” function as suggested by others. BUT this morning we left for an early drive to drop off our daughter for travel. In the car for hours, I decided to charge my phone in the car. I was using it when it hit 100% charge and suddenly the screen started to dim. I caught it before it went black by going in to the screen setting and turning back to the brightness. How did it just decide to turn down the screen brightness on its own?!? I’ll never understand! But I’m wondering if this is what’s happening? Only problem with that logic is that even at its darkest setting, the screen still shows a tiny amount through the darkness.

my phone was charging with the original charger I unplugged my phone after 30 minutes of charging only to come back to black screen. I Had to use my iPhone 11 to figure out how to get my screen back on. This is an on going problem that needs to be fixed ASAP.

I've had this phone maybe a month and a half and this is the third time I've had to do this. I am charging from apple charger, software is 17.1.1 and I keep my phone updated. I really hope this gets fixed.
