Issues adjusting volume on iPhone 15 Pro Max

Whenever I go to the Control Center to turn the volume down, it bounces back up on its own. This happens without a case, so it’s not a result of buttons being accidentally pushed. On iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.3.

A force restart seems to fix this. To do that, press the Up Volume side button once, then press the Down Volume side button once, then press and hold the On/Off (right side) button until you see the Apple logo appear. Did the trick for me.

I have the same problem.

My phone: 14 Pro.

iOS Version: 17.2.1.

I tried the suggestions here;

Your suggested restart didn't solve the problem. I cannot turn off the previously suggested "Attention Aware Features" setting, the relevant switch appears to be on and unchangeable (dimmed).

When I turn on screen recording, the error never occurs.

Steps:

1) Open control center

2) Turn the volume all the way up or all the way down

3) Volume rises or falls to medium levels on its own

Please find a solution to this problem.

this happens to me when I have an AirPlay device connected. Let’s say volume is at the mid level, if I press the physical volume to lower it or increase a small amount it shoots up to 90-95% , or when using control center touch control same thing. This is just great when my KEF speakers hit 95% volume and deafen the neighbors and almost self destruct. Apple the volume is broken. Fix it.

Same issue, it seems you need to be playing something and then it will not bounce back up. The issue with that is often times I swipe it down preemptively so that any sounds do not blare loudly. It is like closing a door and then it opens again on its own. I have had moments where I swipe it all the way down from max volume, and it will bounce all the way back up to just under max volume. I continued swiping all the way down after it bounced up and every time it was 80% of the previous value and would not reach zero volume. I have tried everything, including the suggestions in the thread. Nothing worked, there is no correlation between these volume events other than what was stated at the beginning.

Having the exact same issues.

-Swipe for control center

-Drag the media volume bar all the way down

-Swipe away control center

-Go right back to swiping for the control center

-IPhone turned the media volume back up 1/4 of the way.

This is frustrating when I’m in an area of silence and can’t trust my iPhone to keep the sound muted. All settings suggestions have been tried, but none of it works.

I’ve done:

1) Settings > Accessibility > Face ID > turn everything off

2) Restarted iPhone

3) This happens with no bluetooth device connected.

4) There’s no VPN

Im not finding anything on the web, so I hope someone in here cracked the issue or Apple notices how inconvenient this is and fixes it.

INTERESTING....

So... when I have Spotify opened and the music paused (doesn't have to be Spotify... just an app that has audio) after lowering the volume all the way down through the control center (or even with the volume buttons) the volume remains fully lowered/muted. BUT, if I close Spotify and check the control center, it shows the volume at about 10-20%.... EVEN IF I do not adjust the volume after closing Spotify.

This problem has been around for a while. And it’s not specific to one phone model. If I want to quickly swipe down on the volume bar in the control panel (the one you swipe down from the upper right), it treats it like a mistake, and bounces it up slightly. No idea why anyone on iOS team thinks “slyly unmute the volume” is a good feature. I swiped it down fast for a reason.

Same issue, however, mine normally dives downward (although has also shot up). Volume maxes out either upwards or downwards. This does not occur with speaker only with usb earbuds attached ( multiple sets of earbuds). Earbuds do not have an independent volume control and “Reduce Loud Audio” is disabled. Phone reboot does not resolve bug. iPhone 15 Pro Max and started after most recent iOS update.

I'm with you. I thought I had a problem with my iPhone 14 and the Mous protective case. Strange. My new iPhone 15 Pro that I bought on 01/11/24 is doing the same thing! I bought the Mous protective case for it and the problem is that the volume changes down to the speaker with a slash on its own. So I took the case off, thinking that the case was causing the issue. Nope...the volume goes to "nada" on its own. I've tried everything listed above and the problem persists. GRRRR Apple!
