  • Select the HD in Drive DX, not the SSD or Fusion Drive.
  • An external SSD (much quicker than an external HD) would be the correct way to go assuming the HD has a problem.
  • I am running out of ideas so your next step may be to take the computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have the computer diagnosed. You don't have the necessary tools to do this. If you have a HD problem or a fan or fan sensor issue then this would be uncovered by the Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you don't know of any in your general area, please click Apple Authorized Service Provider Locator (AASP) & Genius Appointment. If you still cannot find one, then call AppleCare. To find the phone number for your area please click AppleCare Contact Info .

Thanks.

PLEASE SEE REPORT WITH FULL ACCESS. My previous reply is before full access report.

Even with safe mode - In safe mode also getting HOT with Fans ON.

I have two external HD but only connected to the iMac with NO powered on.

AND Two Time Machine discs connected.

Attaching report.

No issues with Sonoma that would cause the computer to get hot. However, if you think it is first please re-start in Safe Mode and then restart normally and re-test.

If that does not work, then the condition may be cause by something installed on the computer. In order for us to get an idea of the cause we need to know what has been installed. Please do the following:

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. The report we are requesting does NOT provide any personal information and is extremely safe to use. Please navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

Glad to help. But I'm not the one who solve the issue.

I found that an Installer Progress is ON after each restart.

Asked here a question and the user " BDAqua " replied with this solution.

Now I'm ok but planing to add an external SSD Drive to use instead of the internal Fusion Drive.

  1. How please ?
  2. I think an external HD will be more effective.
  3. Im using iCloud Drive with all my files.

Instead of using Migration Assistant to copy all my files to the new HD , Can I use the iCloud Drive to “Download “ these files instead? ( other Apps I can redownload )

If the HD portion of the Fusion Drive appears with no errors then you are correct it is fine. What I saw from the DriveDX report was for the SSD portion of your Fusion Drive. It is critical that you test the HD portion of the Fusion Drive to verify the HD is operating okay.

After reinstalling macOS , It seems that it's ok now.

I think part of macOS installer was working in the background and couse extra unneeded resources .

The macOS unfinish upgrade was the reason in my opinion .

Anyway. Thanks ALL for your help !!!!
