iMessage Red Voice Recording Symbol Won’t Leave

Hello johnare,

To switch from Voice mode back to Dictation mode in the reply box, just press the microphone icon at the bottom right corner under the keyboard.

I am having the same issue. It started today and I apparently sent my husband an 11 minute voice message, but I can’t even see that I did that. If I click on it it tells me to hold to record, but it appears that it’s already recording.

I no longer have a microphone symbol anywhere. It is not even in the list that opens when you touch the text box on the left. I am thinking the red lines now replace the microphone. I don’t understand if people have so many questions about a problem why doesn’t Apple just answer it? Thanks

I no longer have the microphone since the red icon appeared. So there is nothing to tap on. I still have the red lines but it stopped recording itself when I changed raise arm option. Does anyone else no longer have the microphone icon?

I have the same red marking on my text to one person and sent a voice text by mistake on a conversation I was having in my car about the family . I was devastated to see that this was sent . I have tried the enable dictation and there is no microphone in the bottom right corner of my keyboard. It is only on one contact and I need it removed it has caused so much stress

Yet another example of the stupidity at Apple these days. Changing things that have worked for so long to something that makes no sense seems like someone trying to justify their job. Bordering on just switching to Android.

That didn't fix it for me, I still have the red lines only for one contact, the rest of my contacts still have the microphone icon. I don't understand why this has not been resolved by Apple, it's so annoying!

My symbol suddenly re-popped up again after a reset hoping it would go away. Came back 10 minutes after. What do you do if you have no enable dictation button or microphone on the keyboard? I had the microphone upon the reset briefly and now it’s gone.

This is disturbing and I’d gotten rid of the dreaded creepy text symbol 5 months ago but now it’s back. Please help. It’s causing anxiety and rage.

Red voice recording icon wo t go away and there is no microphone icon to switch to. That red voice recording keeps recording when I didn t turn it on. How do I get rid of it? Thanks

I am having the same problem since this last update. I am afraid I am goi g to send someone an inappropriate message lol

Same issue but I no longer have the microphone under keyboard. Any suggestion's welcome.
