iMessage Red Voice Recording Symbol Won’t Leave

Red voice recording icon wo t go away and there is no microphone icon to switch to. That red voice recording keeps recording when I didn t turn it on. How do I get rid of it? Thanks

To switch from Voice mode back to Dictation mode in the reply box, just press the microphone icon at the bottom right corner under the keyboard.

I am having the same issue. It started today and I apparently sent my husband an 11 minute voice message, but I can’t even see that I did that. If I click on it it tells me to hold to record, but it appears that it’s already recording.

i resolved this by going into the reply box to the person hitting the microphone at the bottom right of keyboard , waiting a second, then pressing again. This was only happening for one contact for me. Hope this helps someone!

It’s not the microphone icon, it’s a red “recording looking” icon. See below

becka1985’s solution worked for me. I too was having the same issue with one contact. I also had the red icon the original poster submitted with a screen capture. Make sure you look below the keyboard

I found solution(with help)

- Go to settings>general>keyboard>enable dictation.

Been driving me crazy too. In following these instructions, i went to - Go to settings>general>keyboard>enable dictation. Counter-intuitively enough, enabling dictation brings back the normal microphone icon and ditches the horrible red lines. no idea how apple allowed this. but it's terrible. The above solution did work for me

I have the same red marking on my text to one person and sent a voice text by mistake on a conversation I was having in my car about the family . I was devastated to see that this was sent . I have tried the enable dictation and there is no microphone in the bottom right corner of my keyboard. It is only on one contact and I need it removed it has caused so much stress

Same issue but I no longer have the microphone under keyboard. Any suggestion's welcome.

I did not get rid of the red icon but I went to settings, messages and turned off “raise arm to listen”. This seems to have stopped it from turning the recording on. I think the red icon is the replacement t for the microphone beciase I cannot find the microphone anymore.
