iphone 15 Pro Max to Car Play using cable

I have a 2021 Rav4 hybrid and just got a new iphone 15. I tried sooooo many wires and the only one that worked was this one: USB C Cable-3FT, LDLrui USB C to USB A 3.1 Gen 2 Cable, Type C 3A Fast Charge & 10Gbps Data Sync Cable for Android Auto, iPhone 15/15 Plus/15 Pro Max, MacBook. Wire was $7ish on Amazon.

I believe it worked because the wire allows for data syncing. Those in this community who said use a gopro cable were not super helpful as I don't have a gopro, however, it did make me think about what it is about a gopro cable that is different from other cables.

I have a 2019 model LEXUS NX and paid to have CarPlay added when it became available a couple of years ago. All fine and dandy with my iPhone 12 but when I tried the iPhone 15 with its USB-C connector ..... no go as with everybody else on here. (The LEXUS CarPlay connection is wired only).

I tried several different cables along with a good quality USB-A to USB-C adaptor with the Apple USB-C cable without success until just now.

What did I do? I tried a cable which I bought from TetherTools for use for my camera. These cables are very expensive but top quality. Once I used a TetherTools cable, the wired connection was perfect. (With other cables, I either got no response or the phone kept saying it was charging before dropping the connection).

Unfortunately, the TetherTools cable is several metres long so not practical for continued use BUT having established the connection and once the iPhone "knew" the car - listed in the CarPlay settings on the iPhone - I was able to use a 'normal' cable which had previously failed to work.

Yes, for my 2023 Toyota Tacoma, it has to be wired and the Apple cables do not work. So I used my cable from my GoPro Hero 9 camera. It's thick and has a USB connection on one end (2023 Toyota doesn't have a USB-C port), and a USB-C connection on the other end for the phone. Fortunately the cable is only 12 inches (30.5cm) long.

I had to use my GoPro camera (audio/visual) cable to get my iPhone 15 Pro to work in my Toyota Tacoma. It is thicker than the white Apple cable, plus it is USB on one end to plug into the trucks USB port and it's USB-C on the other end to plug into the iPhone.

CarPlay finally works with my iPhone 15. Both cables I tried were bad so tried another. Third time was a charm (so to speak).

The Suptig 2 pack did not work for me. It was the only wire that worked and I TRIED A LOT!!!

Using a non apple adapter and non apple charger cord did the trick. Thanks everyone! After months of frustration the problem seems to be resolved!

I just bought a braided cable the brand was true union and it works perfectly now I have a iPhone 15 pro max and before this cord my apple carplay didn’t work but it does now!

What continues to puzzle me is that once I had used my TetherTools cable - the only one which allowed the car to initially connect with the iPhone - and got the car listed in the iPhone CarPlay setting, the cables that didn't work before are fine and dandy now. Thanks for the reply.

I have been successful using Apple Car Play with an iPhone 13 connected via usb A to a Pioneer AVH 4200 NEX head unit in my 2016 Toyota. I upgraded to an iPhone 15 pro max and have Not been able to get it working with a UsbA to UsbC adaptor cable. Pioneer advises it won’t work until Apple releases an updated OIS version. Can anybody confirm this?
