If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:
Battery Drain since watchos 7.4 - Apple Community
WatchOS 7.5 battery drain - Apple Community
FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)
Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
Are you running Moby Fox? If so, uninstall it
I Have had this issue last few days, iWatch Series 9 - 45mm, installed update 10.1 Tuesday or Wednesday, didn't wear but noticed when i got back from doing some graft that day that it had drained completely, just sitting next to computer, last 2 days i have charged to full and timed the power loss and today done the same after doing the unpair, re-pair, restart etc. and still the same 25% loss in 30-40 minutes of sitting here on side of computer in a standby state, Also the wife updated her iWatch Series 9 - 41mm to 10.1 Thursday evening and voila same issue last 2 days, normally we get a full day+ before recharge prior to this update. So i have now just uninstalled the Moby face software on mine and i will try updating it on hers to see if either fixes the issue as people suggest, will update in 24 hours

When I look at my watch I can see that it loses connection to my iPhone and my WiFi network and reconnecting constantly making it overheat and drains my battery in a couple of hours. Apple needs to address this problem now.
Ever since the 10.1 update and the 17.1 update my watch and phone drain within a couple of hours while they are sitting idle. I have followed all of the recommendations and nothing. Apple has done nothing to correct the obvious flaws in both updates. If not resolved quickly, I’m considering getting rid of my all
of Apple Products and retuning to Android.
Apple Watch 45mm Series 8 GPS.
From purchase in April, 32-36 hours between charges with no issues. Watch automatically updated to 10.1 on day of release and now a 100% charge doesn’t last 5 hours! My watch has now been turned into a very expensive bed side clock for the past week and more as it’s not worth wearing until it’s sorted!
Can we please have an updated resolve and quickly!
Why the heck should we have to go through trying to erase, unpair etc… when this issue is clearly a software problem?
my Ultra is draining SO fast. Doesn’t last 7 hours now!
Apple creates this nonsense yet wants users to jump through hoops? No…. Fix the problem via an update!!
My goldie oldie Watch Series 4 is behaving very weird after this update. I use Strava a lot and when using it for 10 -30 minutes the Watch (100% battery) suddenly stops, shows the red of death battery info and obviously Strava is gone as well. When I charge the Watch for 5 minutes, battery is 100% again, but the Strava info is gone. Fix this Apple, never had this problem before!!!
Third party apps can still drain your battery.
From 10:30 (maybe 11:00) to 13:20 I still had 100% on S7 with 87% capacity. It looks like improvement to me. Ok at 13:33 I had 99%. But.
After my very positive feedback early this morning I installed one third party app. Watchla to have an access to my Tesla from Watch. Wow. I've lost 6-7% in 1,5h (maybe even faster because I didn't check it properly). Nevertheless third party apps can still drain you battery way quicker than it was in the past.
I've made a lot of test. I still believe that third party apps can trigger something. Anyway I also saw that after uninstalling draining didn't stop but suddenly it did. I also don't want that is going on. Don't care about this bigger drop. It was a workout (running without iPhone and listening to music thought LTE). Still this workout took more % than before. But after that draining was better than before. Strange.
I have 10.1.1 installed and prior to that I had 10.1. I did not have the battery drain problem with 10.1 but I do with 10.1.1. My watch ran down from 100% to 77% in just over two hours this morning and yesterday it was running down quicker as well. With 10.1 it was late in the day before the battery was lower than 80%.
My watch is the Ultra 2 and I typically don't fiddle with it throughout the day.
Here’s my feedback, sent to Apple few minutes go. No update solving the problem at te moment.
I have an Apple Watch series 9 stainless steel and unfortunately since day one I have serious problems with the battery, as many users report. I have been using Apple Watch since series 0, and this model is the first and only one that has this problem, which makes its use stressful and sometimes impossible. The battery completely drains within a few hours, and it is absolutely inconsistent: the duration sometimes seems correct, and other times I find myself wearing an off watch, without any use of it! This happens even during the same day. I have tried unpairing, resetting, setting up as a new watch without using a back up, pairing with another iPhone and even replaced my watch with a new one: no dice. It is the worst user experience ever. It is clearly a software problem that I cannot fix. And that Apple has not yet been able to solve. I regret my Series 8, which I gave to my sister and is perfect! Please do something about it
Wow. So I see my watch charging to 35% and dropping even though it is plugged in
I've tried the unpair/re-pair method. It seems like the watch just gets too hot and stops charging and still drains
