If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:
Battery Drain since watchos 7.4 - Apple Community
WatchOS 7.5 battery drain - Apple Community
FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)
Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
Hello
I have Apple Watch
series 8 and 9. On series 8, OS 10.1 did not drain the battery. It's the same
in the series 9 watch, it also has OS 10.1 and it's ok. However, I updated the
Apple Watch series 8 to OS 10.1.1. The battery began to drain quickly. TThe 10.1 system remains in the Apple Watch series 9.
The watch works for approximately 24 hours. Both watches charge to 100%. In
series 8 the battery health is 100%. The watch is half a year old. Series 9 is
only 2 weeks old, its condition is of course 100%. I'm waiting for the official
OS 10.2. Greetings from Poland.

I have the 7 series and without too many notification, always on and a lot of other useless things I was having my battery up & running for two days straight. Charging it every other night before going to bed. Not to mention it was fully charging in under 2h.
For some time now.. since watch os 10 update or so.. it takes a whole lot longer to fully charge and battery goes from full to less than 10% in less than 24h... This is simply dumb and unacceptable.

I have 2023 Ultra and the battery life and charge times were awesome. The watch would easily maintain its charge for over two and a half days and charging took less than an hour. After this 10.1.1 update, the battery drains to <30% in a day and takes a much longer time to charge (well over an hour).
I thought this update was to fix something that was draining batteries--obviously that was not an issue I had. But now I do.
Update to 10.1.1 has greatly worsened the problem, battery life reduced to half of its previous capability. I don't run Moby (or even know what that is) Continuing to test, but this new OS is not good.
I figured out how to change watch faces. Look at the Tips. You have to press and hold a face. Then you can swipe to change.
Apple, what’s wrong with you? Why would you make these changes and not tell anyone?
The ability to change Watch Faces without needing to long-press will return in a few weeks.
As for Siri, open the Watch App ⭢ Siri ⭢ Siri Responses, and change Spoken Responses to Always On or Control With Silent Mode.
Curious how you see that. Is there something you can observe easily on either device that shows this? I'd like to keep an eye out for it myself because I could definitely see something like that causing battery drain. Constant pinging of the mothership, so to speak.
Having the same problem now as the 100s of people on this thread and all Apple can tell me is I owe them 100 bucks to replace the battery. Zero issues until the update, not the watch doesn’t last 1/2 the day. Thanks Apple.
Thanks. I guess I'll try the wait a few days and go from there if needed
They told me to do that and it didn’t work
It happened to me as well; took it to the store, and they sent it to service, service sent it back, in a nice box, and the issue is even worse now since now it does not even charge fast enough.
That seems like going to the refrigerator to find the milk is sour, and saying “I’ll leave this right here and come back in few days, maybe it will freshen up on its own”.
Just took off the one app all fixed
i actually bought a new watch because I thought there was an issue!!!
Same. Gets really hot. Doesn’t charge all the way. Battery drains in just a few hours.
