iOS 17 is missing the toggle to turn off group messaging. I updated to iOS 17 and cannot find the feature in settings to toggle off group messaging. Has this feature been deleted from the new operating system or is there a bug?

Group messaging toggle was removed by Apple, has nothing to do with the carrier. This is a big problem and I can't understand why Apple would do this without so much as a warning to its customers. By not allowing a "Group messaging toggle button" everyone in your group message sees everyone else's contacts therefor causing a big privacy issue for the recipients of the message...

Interesting. I was never aware of this capability. I thought everyone saw everything- period.

I contacted Consumer Cellular and their support said their service has nothing to do with toggling Group Messaging on or off. Attached is a picture of the setting in IOS 16, before it disappeared.
Apple needs to add this toggle back asap

It is not possible to turn off SMS from an iPhone. Only your carrier can do that.
Settings>Messages>Send as SMS doesn't turn off SMS. It changes what the phone does if an iMessage fails.
It is RIDICULOUS! Why in the world would Apple remove this simple feature? People don't care to have their personal information shared AND no one likes a "reply all" to anything. GET IT TOGETHER APPLE!!

It's happened to everyone. The Group Message toggle has been removed. Apple has not commented on why.

The option has completely disappeared. I’m also having issues with having to input my mail password every time I open it. The setting does not hold.
I use an app called “A2Z Contacts” that lets me send either texts or emails to my Apple contact groups.
The only “work around” I have found is to turn off iMessage and MMS when sending out mass texts. Also you have to limit the message so I have what used to be one text to three texts per group.
The iPhone X will not receive or update to IOS 17. This is why your husband's iPhone still has the 'Group Messaging' toggle feature. This feature was last available in IOS 16.
Turning off SMS and leaving MMS on does not fix the issue.
Interesting. I wonder if I should do a factory reset and try it again. I keep getting this when I turn off MMS. As you can see, I have tried it multiple times since the 17 update trying to get it to work.
Hopefully something like that gets my functionality back.
