Group Messaging toggle is missing in IOS 17

iOS 17 is missing the toggle to turn off group messaging. I updated to iOS 17 and cannot find the feature in settings to toggle off group messaging. Has this feature been deleted from the new operating system or is there a bug?

Group messaging toggle was removed by Apple, has nothing to do with the carrier. This is a big problem and I can't understand why Apple would do this without so much as a warning to its customers. By not allowing a "Group messaging toggle button" everyone in your group message sees everyone else's contacts therefor causing a big privacy issue for the recipients of the message...

After further investigation this is not a solution. I removed myself from the group when i turned off MMS and everyone else is seeing the all the replies except me, the originator of the group text.

Why isn't anyone from apple responding to the issue?

Have you contacted Apple about it? Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback. You can contact them directly using the Support link at the bottom left of every page of these forums.

Hello123g~ I have an iPhone SE, my husband an iphone X. The update caused the removal of group messaging toggle in my phone, but not in his. He has done all the updates and continues to have the group message toggle. I now do not think that it was an intentional removal, I think it is a glitch that randomly affects. Perhaps with the next update, things will smooth out. It is not a feature that they would knowingly remove. It makes no sense that they would.

I tried the above and it didn’t work. The toggle button is still missing. I can send out a group text, but it goes to everyone individually and I receive the responses individually, which basically does me no good at all. I usually use group for making plans with a group and it does the group no good when they can’t see what others posted such as: who’s bringing what and ideas.

Has anyone else lost all MMS settings where you don’t have an option to turn MMS messaging off anymore?

It looks like Apple is not going to bring this feature back.

If you don't see the MMS toggle, you need to contact your carrier. If you have that feature on your account, the toggle should be there.

The only toggle that was removed was the Group Message toggle.

No that will not work because your still going to get messages from all the others in the group that do not reply back to the original sender in a separate msg. Maybe by blocking the the group will stop it but what about next time will you not get the important msg your needing by blocking the group?

Apple needs to put that setting back!. The on/off toggle button for group msg in the setting menu.

WHy, we should be able to send text as well. Who uses email anymore?

Lots of people. It has different features than SMS/iMessages that make it far superior in many cases. It's a question of using the best tool for the job. A hand axe is fine if you're just chopping a little wood for the fireplace. But, while you could use it to chop down a tree, a chain saw is a whole lot easier and more effective.

The person to whom sberman was responding was asking about a business use. Email is definitely more professional.
