You can try these Steps, hopefully it will help you out:

  1. Check your Wi-Fi or Cellular Connection: Sometimes, slow internet is due to your network. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If possible, switch between Wi-Fi and cellular to see if one works better.
  2. Reboot Your Device: A classic solution! Restart your iPhone by holding down the power button and swiping the slider to turn it off. Then, turn it back on.
  3. Reset Network Settings: If the issue persists, try resetting your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Be aware that this will reset all your saved Wi-Fi passwords and network settings.
  4. Check for Updates: Sometimes, Apple releases updates to fix such issues. Check for any available iOS updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If there's an update, download and install it.
  5. Contact Your Internet Service Provider: If none of the above works, it might be an issue with your internet service provider. Reach out to them to check if there are any problems on their end.

Hopefully, one of these quick fixes will help you get back to faster internet speeds.

I had this exact same issue over the past couple weeks and disabling the "private ip address" ticker in the wifi settings worked.

You go into your wifi networks, press the little blue "i" next to the network you're connected to, and scroll down to "private ip address" and switch it to off. Do a full reboot of your phone afterwards.

Once I did this, all my app browsing sped up drastically. I am unsure how important/risky it is to have the private ip address setting turned off, but I'm happy I dont have to switch between my wifi and cell data anymore. Hope this helps someone.

Similar problems and all the usual fixes do not help. What has helped is turning off the new “Private Relay” feature. This seems to produce consistently better results by about two orders of magnitude. iPad and MacBook Pro and iMac all absolutely great. iPhones just a complete disaster.

When Private Relay is off I get between 40 and 300 Mb/s. When Private Relay is switched on I am getting between 1 and 30 Mb/s. Would be interesting to know if others get similar results.

I just got on the phone with Apple and he had me check my battery.

Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

It shows my battery is significantly degraded.

He suggested this might be the problem and that IOS 17 put a greater strain on the old battery causing the phone to slow down.

I'm going to get a new battery installed ($90) to see if that fixes the problem.

Turn off iCloud Private Relay on your device. Once I turned it off my speeds returned normal.

Go to setting. At the top of the page type in Private Relay in the search bar. It will take you right the page to turn it off. Apple needs to fix this problem so we can use Private Relay with reasonably appropriate speeds.

Good Luck 🍀

That worked!! Full speed is back after I also closed all then restarted but it was turning of the ICloud relay that fixed it. I did the “for 24 hrs” setting because was concerned about security. If I loose speed in 24hrs then I guess am forced to keep the relay off.

Anyone know how concerned we should be to turn off the ICloud relay? Given the choice I rather have my speed back but sad to be forced to choose

After Xfinity had their nationwide system problems recently, and then "recovered", all of our Apple devices were so slow on our 400mbs Wi-Fi they were unusable! Non Apple devices worked fine. Speedtest on Apple devices resulted in an initial 1mbs speed, then it would gradually go up during the test. I reset/restarted all network components, as usual, and tried all of the device specific stuff like restarting, disabling private wifi address, forgetting network, etc, ad nauseum. The Xfinity app assistant said all is good with your connection/network. What finally worked was force closing all apps, browsers, etc on the Apple devices. Upon using said apps and browsers again, voila, speed restored. Hope this helps. FYI, netgear Orbi RBK752 mesh system, and a Surfgear ARRIS Surfboard S33

Troubleshooting Lagging Wifi on an iPhone:

If iPhone WiFi is slow, then here are some things to consider...

A. Disable a VPN:

Are you using a VPN? If so, disable it.

B. Clear Space:

System resources may be swollen up. So, clear space. See my two User Tips:

C. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

D. Force Close All Apps:

An app may not be responding. So, close all apps. Hold you finger down on the Bottom-left cornet. As you swipe to the top-left corner, the apps will pop up. Then, close all of these open apps, by sweeping up quickly for all apps.

Troubleshooting Lagging Wifi on an iPhone:

Report this to Apple...

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

There seems to be a problem with Microsoft Defender on the iPad. I was having very slow Wi-Fi . I tried just turning off VPN in Defender but it would just get turned back on. So I deleted the Defender app, and my sped went immediately from 8 Mbps to 500 Mbps. That’s all I know except that none of the “standard” fixes worked.
